] Criminals are turning the tables on police by making
] crude versions of road spikes and hurling them in the
] path of pursuit cars.
]
] And, according to the letter of the law, there is little
] police can do about it.

This isn't a US news story but I thought it was interesting all the same.

Orange flavored beer? Well it must be good if they can't keep up with demand.

Bring on that fat man and the dreadful woman! And while you are at it Fox, release a copy of "The Road to Rhode Island" with the Osama Bin Laden airport joke in tact. Yeah thanks.

RHUM - RedHat Update Munger (Version 1.2)
Topic: Technology 7:47 pm EST, Nov 20, 2003

] RHUM is an easy to use script for merging updated RPMs
] into a RedHat style distribution. RHUM can merge RedHat's
] RPM Updates and your own custom RPMs into the copy of
] RedHat you use for Kickstart installs, eliminating the
] need to apply RPM Updates after install. This script can
] also use Fedora Core has a base for building custom
] distributions.

I have updated RHUM to work with Fedora Core. You can now create custom Linux distributions based of Fedora using RHUM the say way as RedHat 6 through 9.

There is also a crude script linked from this page that will create a network install base using the yarrow images.

This is actually really really neat... Anyone got more information? Can we experiment with this at home?

] Mouse movements in combination with a click-hold and

] release mouse button (you can choose which button to use
] in advanced preferences). This gesture is recognized and
] appropriate action is triggered.

I know I am behind the times on this but if you are using mozilla without them, you are me three weeks ago. :) If you have a middle mouse button or your scroll wheel can click then these are definitely something you need to try. The tab navigation and forward / back movements are great. I can't see me going back to a browser without them ever again.

Startup Says Quantum Crypto Is Real
Topic: Technology 10:28 pm EST, Nov 15, 2003

] Startup MagiQ Technologies Inc. yesterday announced it's
] shipping what appears to be the first security system
] based on quantum cryptography.
]
] Quantum cryptography goes a step further than electronic
] cryptography through its employment of a stream of
] photons, the quantum properties of which determine the
] key. The fun part is that if an intruder observes or
] intercepts the transmission, those properties get changed
] -- an unavoidable principle of quantum mechanics --
] meaning the sender and receiver can tell if anyone is
] eavesdropping. Perhaps more important, the key can't be
] copied or faked (see Optical Science Gets Spookier and
] Quantum Cipher Sent by Fiber ).
]
] It's a potential breaththrough, though working with
] photons has never been easy, and, as the optical
] networking bubble has shown, it can be an expensive way
] to build technology.
]
] MagiQ's Navajo system, a box made to fit in a standard
] telecom rack, was unveiled in February and began beta
] trials in March.
