I really can't think of a more underappreciated form of art than firecracker labels. Think about it. Sure you might buy the ones that look the coolest, but soon after you're lighting 'em on fire. The once amazing artwork is now blown to smithereens and you couldn't care less.

In the study, 30 people used a finger on their right hand to touch a finger on their left hand by tapping a device place directly over the left finger and could instantly relay the tap. The computer-controlled device could introduce delays of varying length before the left finger was tapped. Researchers used another button to introduce externally generated taps. Based on the test subjects' reports of what they felt, the sensation in the left finger was less during window of time centered on the instant any self-tapping would have occurred naturally. Bottom line: When their brains expected a tap and the tap came as expected, the brain noticed it less.

Could a hotel be built on the land owned by Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter? A new ruling by the Supreme Court which was supported by Justice Souter himself itself might allow it. A private developer is seeking to use this very law to build a hotel on Souter's land. Justice Souter's vote in the "Kelo vs. City of New London" decision allows city governments to take land from one private owner and give it to another if the government will generate greater tax revenue or other economic benefits when the land is developed by the new owner.

Would you want to know? Would you want to know if, a decade from now, your brain will begin to deteriorate? Even if you can't do much to stop it? advertisement The questions sound like a science-fiction brainteaser. But they became real with the announcement this week that researchers may be able to predict Alzheimer's disease nearly a decade before symptoms appear. Experts say predicting illness raises ethical questions for doctors and societal questions about insurance, workplace discrimination and privacy.
Would I want to know that in 5 years I wouldn't remember anything, and would be lost and alone in the world? Yes, I would, because I don't think I'd want to let myself get that far. Would you want to know if Alzheimer's is coming? |

] News Stories Try to Downplay Outrage over TV Indecency ] Even While FCC Complaints Soar ] ] On Monday of this week, MediaWeek ran a story that stated ] that 99.8% of all indecency complaints filed in 2003 were ] filed by the PTC, and 99.9% of complaints with the FCC ] (aside from the complaints about Janet Jackson's breast ] exposure during the Super Bowl) were filed by the PTC and ] its members. Okay as many of you are well aware the parents television council is responsible for 99.9% of all complaints to the FCC this year. Just how can one group make so much noise? Well the answer is simple they have a website that will generate form letters to all of your local media outlets. Check out the link on this story and put in your zip code and see who it finds for you. If you think it is harmless enough put in some fake info and have it generate out a complaint for you. I am truely disturbed by what I found on this groups' website. For more info on their other doings check out http://www.parentstv.org/ and give a look to their "Action Center" or the large "File an FCC Complaint" button on the main page.
