"Sources close to Apple familiar with the new machines said that, contrary to industry rumours, the new PowerBooks will not breach the psychologically important 1GHz barrier, due to problems with cooling and battery life. Instead the fastest PowerBook will be 933MHz (up from 867MHz) and the entry level 667MHz model will be speed-bumped to 867MHz. The system bus will continue to run at 133MHz, rather than moving to the 167MHz motherboard introduced with the current top of the range Power Mac G4s, said the sources. The upgraded PowerBooks will stick with the existing ATI 7500 Mobility Radeon graphics rather than upgrading to the more powerful ATI 9500 Mobility system." PowerBook upgrade to fall short of 1GHz |

"SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - Two men who allegedly paid street people to fight each other as part of the Internet video sensation "Bumfights" have been arrested in San Diego, police say. " "Bumfights, Vol 1" -- touted by its producers as "the fastest-selling independent video" featuring "drunks" and "crackheads" -- shows bedraggled men engaging in fistfights and acts of self-abuse, such as running headlong into steel doors and leaping off bridges. Police say the "Bumfights" producers persuaded street people to fight for the camera in exchange for cash payments, food, liquor and hotel rooms but warned the participants not to tell authorities about the remuneration.
