On a cold Saturday in New York City, the world’s largest train station came to a sudden halt. Over 200 Improv Everywhere Agents froze in place at the exact same second for five minutes in the Main Concourse of Grand Central Station. Over 500,000 people rush through Grand Central every day, but today, things slowed down just a bit as commuters and tourists alike stopped to notice what was happening around them. Enjoy the video first and then go behind the scenes with our mission report and photos.

Where does he find the time? Apparently, in between shooting his much-lauded video blog experiment and being a celebrated Internet guru, Ze Frank also dated Chelsea Peretti.

FUD: /fuhd/, n. Defined by Gene Amdahl after he left IBM to found his own company: “FUD is the fear, uncertainty, and doubt that IBM sales people instill in the minds of potential customers who might be considering [Amdahl] products.” The idea, of course, was to persuade them to go with safe IBM gear rather than with competitors' equipment. This implicit coercion was traditionally accomplished by promising that Good Things would happen to people who stuck with IBM, but Dark Shadows loomed over the future of competitors' equipment or software. See IBM. After 1990 the term FUD was associated increasingly frequently with Microsoft, and has become generalized to refer to any kind of disinformation used as a competitive weapon.

[In 2003, SCO sued IBM in an action which, among other things, alleged SCO's proprietary control of Linux. The SCO suit rapidly became infamous for the number and magnitude of falsehoods alleged in SCO's filings. In October 2003, SCO's lawyers filed a memorandum in which they actually had the temerity to link to the web version of this entry in furtherance of their claims. Whilst we appreciate the compliment of being treated as an authority, we can return it only by observing that SCO has become a nest of liars and thieves compared to which IBM at its historic worst looked positively angelic. Any judge or law clerk reading this should surf through to my collected resources on this topic for the appalling details.—ESR]

U.S. antitrust officials seen swallowing beer deal |

Anheuser-Busch , which brews Budweiser, Busch and Michelob, is the longtime U.S. market leader with just under half of all U.S. beer sales. Miller holds 18.7 percent of the market and Coors 11 percent, according to Michael Scherer, who teaches management at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. The rest of the market is shared by imports and microbrewed beers. The proposed merger would give Anheuser-Busch and the new MillerCoors joint venture control over nearly 80 percent of the U.S. beer market. The deal could hurt Pabst Brewing Co, which has 3.38 percent of the U.S. beer market, since Miller brews most of Pabst's beer and could opt to shut down that plant, said Scherer. "This could put them in a very squeezed position," he said.
Hey I like PBR and other 'imports', I see this as a risk to the small guys... :( U.S. antitrust officials seen swallowing beer deal |

That shouldn't be possible. What article? Replies don't effect the main page. I see that you have an article recommended three times in your blog. Only the first recommendation counts. Hulu Private Beta post is the one... |

MacBook Air battery replacements take only minutes |

According to people familiar with the new-generation notebook, there are no special tools or knowledge required to swap out the MacBook Air's battery, which Apple has billed its "thinnest ever" in a product. Instead, the process requires a single size-0 type phillips screwdriver and some diligence. Once flipped upside down, the MacBook Air's bottom cover is easily unscrewed and removed, providing immediate access to the battery cavity. From there, the battery can be unscrewed from the chassis with the same screwdriver and unplugged from the circuit board with a simple tug -- it's not soldered to the board. The entire process, according to those in the known, can be completed by any service technician in as little as three minutes. For its part, Apple has announced its intent to offer a MacBook Air Out-of-Warranty Battery Replacement Program, which promises authorized replacements for US $129. The mail-in repair process normally takes 5 business days, the company says.

1963 International Firetruck Brewery Sold for: $16,000 Classic fire engines in good condition are generally very collectible. In this case, someone got a fire engine and a steady supply of fresh draft beer at a bargain price. Working in conjunction with brewmasters from Coors and Stone Brewing Co., West Coast Choppers turned this 1963 International Fire Truck into a mobile brewery. Hoses, reels and storage lockers were removed from the truck to make room for the brewing system's tanks, tubes, heaters and coolers. The frame was also reinforced and a new floor added.
Hell Yea! Beeer! On the go? hmm sounds like a moving DUI... 1963 International Firetruck Brewery |
