Pickin' On Series - American Idiot (Green Day) I’m normally first in line to criticize series like this, which tend to just take the chords to a song and play them on a different instrument (banjo, accordion, distortion guitar, whatever). For this song at least, these anonymous session musicians sound like they tried for more than a paycheck, with a harmonies, solos, etc. And, unusual for the genre, it’s not instrumental – a big plus. http://covermesongs.blogspot.com/
Sounds good for bluegrass... Cover Me: Pickin' On Series - American Idiot |

Paulson Explains Need for Plan to Buy Mortgages (Total Bull$hit IMHO) |

An enormous, taxpayer-financed program to buy up bad mortgages and other distressed debt is necessary to protect the savings and aspirations of millions of Americans, Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. said on Friday. Skip to next paragraph Related Statement by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. “We’re talking hundreds of billions” of dollars, Mr. Paulson said at a briefing in which he underscored the depth of the problem, pledged to work with Congress to address it quickly and voiced optimism that, in the end, the country would emerge from the financial chaos. Seeking to dispel any impression that the bailout would amount to a rescue of greedy Wall Street executives by Main Street Americans, Mr. Paulson said the program “will cost Americans far less than the alternative.” Resolving the financial problems is of paramount importance, not just for major corporations and investment banks but for people who have never set foot in the corridors of corporate and political power, Mr. Paulson said. “Their retirement savings, their home values, their ability to borrow for college” and their chance to find and keep good jobs depend on it, he said. Mr. Paulson said Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were recently taken under the federal government’s wing, would expand their purchases of mortgage-backed securities to help ease the problems. He declined to lay out specifics of the unfolding recovery program, which he said he would work on through the weekend with lawmakers so that it can be acted upon next week. But he said that the program must be well-designed and “sufficiently large” to protect taxpayers “to the maximum extent possible.”
What needs to happen is the wealth of the greedy *&^%$ that let this happen needs to be stripped. This is turning into a Tax payer bailout of every dumb ass and every rich person in America. But he said that the program must be well-designed and “sufficiently large” to protect taxpayers “to the maximum extent possible.”
Spend more money? Our, Joe taxpayer, money.

What alternative? He does not have one, that he can think of, so this is really a bail-out of people who should be in pound-you-in-the-ass prison...!!! So lets bail out the rich folks so they can keep their monies intact and continue to f&^% us, the average Joe, over again... I THINK NOT! In Frantic Day, Wall Street Banks Teeter |

In one of the most dramatic days in Wall Street’s history, Merrill Lynch agreed to sell itself to Bank of America for roughly $50 billion to avert a deepening financial crisis, while another prominent securities firm, Lehman Brothers, hurtled toward liquidation after it failed to find a buyer, people briefed on the deals said. The humbling moves, which reshape the landscape of American finance, mark the latest chapter in a tumultuous year in which once-proud financial institutions have been brought to their knees as a result of tens of billions of dollars in losses because of bad mortgage finance and real estate investments. They culminated a weekend of frantic around-the-clock negotiations, as Wall Street bankers huddled in meetings at the behest of Bush administration officials to try to avoid a downward spiral in the markets stemming from a crisis of confidence. “My goodness. I’ve been in the business 35 years, and these are the most extraordinary events I‘ve ever seen,” said Peter G. Peterson, co-founder of the private equity firm the Blackstone Group, who was head of Lehman in the 1970s and a secretary of commerce in the Nixon administration.

Denise Plant and Murphy Houston are the morning drive team disc-jockeys at KOSI101 FM in Denver. Murphy is a Denver icon in radio and Denise is the queen of media in Denver - radio, television and commercials. I mention this because even seasoned pros can be surprised… especially when their producer invites yours truly in for a morning science experiment. Behind the scenes, I never told Denise what was going to happen. You’re seeing it just as it happened on the air.

SYDNEY (Reuters) - An Australian man's dare went horribly wrong when he tried to play chicken with cars on a freeway wearing only his underwear. The 18 year old was critically injured after being hit by a four-wheel drive on a freeway in the southern city of Melbourne in the early hours of Wednesday, police said in a statement. "Police are dismayed at the utter stupidity of a man who decided to play chicken on the Tullamarine Freeway," the statement said. "It was lucky nobody was killed as a result and police couldn't believe anybody would be foolish enough to take such grave risks with their personal safety and that of other road users." The driver and passenger in the car were unhurt, though the vehicle was a write-off

NNDB Mapper: Connecting executives/celebs |

NNDB, a directory of important people and celebrities the two are not exclusive standing for Notable Names Database, has put together a mapping tool that lets you connect the dots to see how people are intertwined. One example, featured in this demo video, shows the overlap of board members for large tech companies, including Apple, Intel, Yahoo, and Microsoft. You can use the tool to figure out who s worked where, then drill down to their personal histories--both work and play, with very little effort. The backgrounds of each individual are maintained by the NNDB community and its editors. You can also go in to create your own charts, though you re limited to NNDB s directory of people and companies. I was going to do one for CBS and CNET, but alas we re not there. You can, however, compare CBS to NBC, ABC, and even Fox Broadcasting. There s not a lot of overlap, but you can easily see people s positions at the company and where else they ve worked. This reminds me a lot of Cogmap, a service that lets you map out the hierarchy of your workplace. It s got a little more flash, though, and is similar to They Rule, a site outdated about four years that chronicles the ruling class of corporations around the world. For those who are less corporate-inclined, some of the celebrity maps are pretty amusing, including charts of who s been romantically involved with whom.
