I think a much more interesting idea for revamping firearms can be found at www.metalstorm.com. Just check out the videos and be prepared to be amazed. Too bad your local Wal-Mart doesn't stock these!

It seems that gmail accounts were easily able to be owned before a major flaw in how google handles cookies was fixed.

GmailFS - Gmail Filesystem (dot mac for linux for free)

] infrastructure to help provide the filesystem, and
] libgmail to communicate with Gmail.

This is a fucking brilliant idea! If I was giving out an award for hack of the year this would be in the running. Yes, python is a brain crushingly inefficient way to implement a filesystem, but Gmail is still likely to be the bottleneck. Google probably won't like this because they don't really expect people to use all of the space they have, but they probably can't stop you from doing this either. Got to port this to OSX!

IHT: PC maker bets on personal power

] computing power than is easily available from Fry's, the
] local retail chain for personal computers. Orion is

] a single engineer or scientist, that will have 12
] processors yet consume about the same amount of power as
] a standard desktop personal computer.

[ Presumably a 12 node transmeta box... seems like a neat idea, if it can find a market... that's a hell of a workstation. -k]
