] President Bush yesterday repeated his condemnation of ] unregulated money that he said was "pouring" into the ] political process. But he stopped short of denouncing the ] ad by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which is being aired ] in three battleground states and is funded largely by ] Republicans. Many media outlets, including MSNBC and the (British) Independent got this wrong. Bush did not specifically condemn that Swift Vet Ad. Once again, he *did* blast 527 group spending. Bush never had any problem with such spending back when Republicans benefited from it (think 2000 in the Florida Recount). Kerry Team Lines Up Vietnam Witnesses (washingtonpost.com) |

] The John Kerry presidential campaign has filed a ] complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging ] the veterans' group behind an anti-Kerry TV ad was ] illegally coordinating its efforts with the Bush-Cheney ] campaign. [The point is turn these swift boat ads into a win-win situation for Kerry & Co. It is left as an exercise to the reader to decide if this strategy has worked. --timball] Kerry campaign files FEC complaint against TV ads |

My complain is Bush's decisions are based seemly *entirely* on public opinion. He didn't think Rice testifing was important until after the media reamed him for a week. Bush kept moving the Exit date from Iraq earlier and earlier the more soldiers died. A man who makes policy based on opinion polls is not a man to be President. That statement applies to all candidate or officals. I see this as president bush flip-flopping on an issue. Of course this isn't an original thought, Terry Neal at the washington post has a great article listing president bush's flip-flops at: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41610-2004Apr1.html I doubt the white house will see this as hypocrisy and stop attacking john kerry, but we can always hope. Oh joy. More XP-worship. I wonder if anyone's yet considered that if we keep "borrowing" the flashy and artistic bits from other people's desktop environments (mac pinstripes, windows drop shadowing) we're going to wind up with something that looks like crap... Still, this is a nifty bit of patching. Drop Shadow Effect for GTK -2.2.x Menus |
