"At the moment of the kiss, there's a very complicated exchange of information ... that may tap into underlying evolved mechanisms" cluing us in on whether we're genetically compatible, explains Gordon Gallup, co-author of the study and professor of psychology at the State University of New York at Albany. "A kiss can be a deal-breaker in terms of whether a relationship will flower or flounder, so to speak."
It's ashame people don't also have genitals in their mouths. It would make things interesting. Why bad kissers don't get to second base - CNN.com |

WINNIPEG, Nov. 30 /CNW/ - Canadian based SideTrack Technologies last night (Thurs) completed final testing of its LED display system on the prestigious Heathrow Express train service which carries more than 100,000 passengers a week between the Heathrow Airport and London's Paddington station. The Company provides advertisers with the ability to deliver a 15-second advertisement which lights up the dark tunnel walls as the trains pass the display at speeds of around 60 mph. A total of 360 individual LED bars have been installed along a 450m stretch of the tunnel - creating a display nearly half-a-kilometer in length. The LED display will be seen by passengers arriving into London from Heathrow Airport.

Nov. 29, 2007 -- The same microwave radiation that reheats pizza can be used to fry the electrical systems in cars, stopping them dead in their tracks. Emitted from a rooftop device, the radiation could be used by law enforcement officers to put an end to dangerous car chases or by military personnel as a non-lethal way of disabling vehicles that get too close for comfort.

This just isn't funny. SFWA, the Science Fiction Writers of America, an organisation of which I am a member (on account of my having just a slight interest in writing and selling SF in that country) managed to get into a huge public relations mess back in August/September, when Dr. Andrew Burt, acting on his own initiative as a member of the SFWA e-piracy committee, caused a major screw-up in dealing with Scribd, a text file sharing website. (Details on the whole debacle start here; for SFWA's response see here: more here: if you really want to know everything, Google is your friend.)
