This guy really is good at what he does. Kid's draw pictures of their 'monsters' and super-heros, and he takes those pictures, and paints them realistically, all the while leaving the basic lines and scope of the drawings. My son really enjoyed this site, as did I. It is very interesting! [Awesome!] THE MONSTER ENGINE - What if a kid's imagination....was better represented? |

"Louisville artist Matt Gatton started thinking of primitive people hunkering inside caves and arrived at a radical, quite possibly revolutionary and insistently plausible theory of the origin of representational art. It struck Gatton, a St. Francis High School art teacher, that the question of how Paleolithic people got the notion to create representational art could be answered by their living conditions. Holes in the animal hides that covered their dwellings could have projected images from outside -- a phenomenon of physics we now call camera obscura. The people could then have traced the images onto their cave walls." Camera Obscura and Paleolithic Drawings |

I had to make one. How can I grow old as an artist and have people ask "What did you do during the Cartoon War?" and have nothing to show for it except a thumb up my ass. How many calls to arms will artists get in a lifetime? Artists should have a duty to make their own personal Muhammad Cartoon! Causing fear is how terror extremist groups gauge if they are winning or not. The world needs to stop being afraid of these idiots and paint them up like clowns with guns. Any group which cannot respect another world view deserves to look stupid. They need to start taking themselves much less seriously. Remember The Guru Maharaj ji ? He ripped off his followers for decades and promised to levitate the Houston Astro Dome with "Green Energy"(where was this bastard during Katrina???). I understand that people like to believe in their magic little spiritual worlds, to get the rush you get when you feel self important for no good reason at all. And everyone should have every right to do so. However, not acknowledging fundamentals of reality makes you look like an idiot to people who see things differently. Do you think some people are stupid? So do I! It's not about morality, right or wrong, or any self-righteous platform... It's about TRUTH. If you want yours to Dominate someone else's, those people are going to look at you either like a big fat DUMMY or a God (as if you have to ask which you might look like!). Getting irate, belligerent, and violent doesn't change the fact that some people are not interested in your Kool-Aid! This goes for you neo-right-wing-jesus juice slurping-fascist-christians as well. If your spirituality is not a PERSONAL experience... There is a large chunk of the world who considers you an ASSHOLE and your way of life ANNOYING! If you don't like having your bible-bubble burst, then SHUT the fuck up and it's a non-issue! When you open the panel for discussion, you will learn that "religion" does not equal "reality" and you will deserve it. T-Shirts and other merchandise of my cartoon are available HERE. I think that the fact that I made one when there are Fatwas going around prooves that my balls are big enough to warrant your support.
A new T-shirt. Enjoy! Muhammad Cartoon for the Cartoon War |

This sculpture group was inspired by a dream. In LOLA, I witnessed a secret reunion of long-separated unicorns--transparent ghostly unicorns--that turned into a wild party, and then... a unicorn orgy!

Very cool generative, fractal, rule-based and algorythmic web art. [ His earlier (?) work is also available at complexification.net, as well as some prints you can purchase. Personally, I really wish he offered a print of "substrate". I think it's wonderful to look at. -k] Levitated |

The following pages depict many things from the Star Wars universe re-created from a simple piece of paper. On each page you will find a picture of a completed figure, a description of its place in the Star Wars universe, and a short anecdote about my efforts to re-create it. If the figure is one from my book, you will also see the final illustration from the instructions for comparison. These designs were all created for the Star Wars Origami book. I'm still trying to get it published. If you are a book agent, publisher, or can help me get the book published, I would be interested in hearing from you. I hope you will enjoy my work and become inspired to explore this art form. This site was last updated on November 11, 2005 with 2 new Guest Artists

Artistic works traditionally carry significance beyond their physical beauty, but a new sculpture in the McAllister Building headquarters of the Penn State Department of Mathematics may carry that tradition to its limits.

Designed from the ground up for professional photographers, Aperture provides everything you need for after the shoot, delivering the first all-in-one post-production tool for photographers. Featuring a RAW-focused workflow, Aperture makes RAW as easy as JPEG, letting you import, edit, catalog, organize, retouch, publish, and archive your images more effectively and efficiently than ever before. From capture to output, you work directly with your RAW files, never having to first convert them into another format before viewing, adjusting, organizing, or printing them.
Check out the tour. It looks like photoshop might finally have some competition in the photo processing area. The interface looks really neat. It might be a little on the pricey side for what it does though, probably just so they can market it as "professional" software. Still neat looking though. Apple - Aperture |
