For all you Speedpass users out there... PANIC! No, don't panic actually.. Excerpt: "Faraday shielding offers a short-term, partial remedy. In particular, users may encase their DSTs in aluminum foil or some suitable radio-reflective shielding when not using them. This would defend against active scanning attacks, but not against passive eavesdropping." Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I can't tell, this foil is suffocating. Cheers, -Pk Good read. Microsoft: No Patches for Pirated Windows |

In the stupidest security move microsoft has made to date, they've decided that pirated copies of microsoft products should not recieve security patches. What's next, 'How to write a worm', published by Microsoft Press? [ This was inevitable. Its a good idea for their business and a bad idea for computer security on the whole. Its hard to argue that Microsoft has a moral obligation to patch stolen software, but on the other hand this is going to make a bad situation worse. ] -I think this will backfire on them. All we need is a few very fastly spreading worms and the damage to their reputation will increase as linux's user friendliness increases. I don't think its a good move on their part - for a lot of reasons. Microsoft: No Patches for Pirated Windows |

RE: Half.com closing in July |

I'm watching this situation closely. It seems like a lot of half.com sellers are moving to alibris.com. To sell there, there is a one time 20.00 fee with a minimum of 500 books on inventory at all times. So while they will fill the need for larger volume sellers, the average little joe college student with 5 books to sell will currently be forced to pay up on eBay it seems. Sellyouritem.com could pick up the slack, since they have free listing and the ability to import from excel files, but they are missing the boat and not jumping on this. -K. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! This has to be the _most_ ignorant and irrational decision ever made by a cable network. Granted, G4 is Comcast's "baby", but that channel absolutely _sucks_ and is very likely to continue to suck. TechTV has managed to produce consistently entertaining and informative programming for quite some time now. Are newbies expected to now learn about computing technology from Microsoft press releases or something? TechTV Staff Being Fired? |
