We have obtained secret documents which RIAA lawyers use to determine whether to file a lawsuit against a copyright violator. These documents give insight into the RIAA's decision-making process, and could help people avoid lawsuits in the future. We offer these documents as a public service.
That looks about right. RIAA Lawsuit Decision Matrix |

"He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient." -- U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section III
It's that time again... The general rules of this game are no different from any other drinking game. A drink is either a shot or a good gulp from a beer (or cider). Different events call for different numbers of drinks and all you do is watch the speech and play along. If all goes well, you'll be unconscious by the time they show the other party's response.
Remember to pass out on your side so you don't choke on your vomit. The State of the Union Address Drinking Game 2007 |

"Dr. Eric Keroack On Monday, the federal office that oversees the nation's family-planning program got a new boss who doesn't believe in birth control. Eric Keroack is a Massachusetts obstetrician-gynecologist who argues that abstinence until marriage is the only healthy choice for women. Until recently, he served as medical director of a pregnancy-counseling organization that runs down contraception and gives out scientifically false health information—for instance, that condoms "offer virtually no protection" against herpes or HPV. Keroack also promotes a wacky piece of pseudoscience: the claim that premarital sex disrupts brain chemistry so as to create a physiological barrier to happy marriage. Members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys believe the bankruptcy law overhaul has made the process more costly and complex, without making it more effective. "In practice, the new bankruptcy law changes have proven to be a nearly total bust in terms of what the proponents of the change had forecast," said Ike Shulman, a California bankruptcy lawyer and an officer with the association.
I'd like to see a wish list from the Dems. At the top for me would be to undue the bankruptcy "reform" bill from last year which has both hurt people and cost the insurance industry money. If someone is benefiting from this bill, I can't figure out who. We tried this. It doesn't work. You should have known better. Can we please stop being stupid now? In a notice dated Wednesday, the Justice Department listed 196 pending habeas cases, some of which cover groups of detainees. The new Military Commissions Act (MCA), it said, provides that "no court, justice, or judge" can consider those petitions or other actions related to treatment or imprisonment filed by anyone designated as an enemy combatant, now or in the future.
The relevant section from Section 9 of Article 1 of the Constitution: The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it. No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.
It seems to me that the two positions are in direct opposition, on multiple grounds, and when that is the case, the Constitution wins. Nice try, but this one don't fly Il Dupe. It's called "Violating the Oath of Office," and it means, "move back to Crawford you piece of crap." Court Told It Lacks Power in Detainee Cases - washingtonpost.com |

An interesting idea found off cryptome.... "One of the most powerful groups in the USA is the "intelligence community" that operates from secret budgets estimated at $44 billion a year. One must assume that they might use their influence and money to insert spooks into Congress to serve their needs. This has already happened, as this debate in the halls of Congress revealed: Congressional Record: June 23, 2004" Spooks In Congress |
