I saw the MSNBC interviews and was like...WOW. But no one else really picked up the ball? It was like, OK, here's the bomb! Then, hey, what are you doing for the superbowl? WTF

Please let them file a civil suit. PLEASE. All this b/c of an anonymous tip. :(
After being threatened to this extreme, the family felt they had no choice but to let the social worker into their home to interview the children, who were now crying and wailing. During the interview, the social worker would not let the witness the family provided be present. She also proceeded to lift the shirts and clothing of each child, even those whom the allegations did not concern.
The social worker found nothing—but said still she wanted the family to “undergo a formal psycho-social assessment.”
When the Smiths asked “Why?” the social worker replied, “This is done in all investigations with homeschooled children!”
Needless to say, the Smiths declined the assessments, and relied on HSLDA to take care of the rest.
Klicka sent the social worker a letter outlining all the ways in which she had broken the law:
1. By entering the home and interviewing the children through intimidation; 2. By not letting them know the allegations at the initial visit; and 3. By interviewing children whom the allegations did not concern.
Klicka explained that the case should be closed immediately, as there was no evidence against the family. He also explained that the daughter’s issues with depression were being handled adequately by medical experts and psychologists familiar with the situation.
The family has not been hassled by this social worker since, and the case is closed. HSLDA is considering a civil rights suit.
"Turns out, many of the "disputed" minors are adults after all, a point CPS hasn’t conceded until now. One of the "girls" is actually 27 years old.
Only a handful of the 168 mothers involved in the case have had their individual hearings so far – they will all be complete by June 4. Many of the "disputed" mothers are still due court hearings. One has to wonder how many more "child brides" will turn out to be adults before this is all over.
It’s an important point, because CPS investigators justified escalating the April 3 raid, and ultimately the removal of every child, based on their observations once they entered the ranch for the first time in response to a call for help. "
Is anyone still following this case? The govt. seems to have really screwed up to me.

While this song starts out about a specific incident or two, and it honors a fallen soldier and discusses school freedom - it's meaning is universal I think. Freedom of speech Freedom of faith Freedom of religion Freedom to stand up and fight for what we believe in..
"Sir Salman Rushdie celebrates his 60th birthday today in familiar circumstances: he is once again the subject of death threats across the Islamic world. .....
The Organisation to Commemorate Martyrs of the Muslim World, a fringe hardline group, offered a reward of $150,000 (£75,000) to any successful assassin. "
High school senior Allen Lee sat down with his creative writing class on Monday and penned an essay that so disturbed his teacher, school administrators and police that he was charged with disorderly conduct.
"I understand what happened recently at Virginia Tech," said the teen's father, Albert Lee, referring to last week's massacre of 32 students by gunman Seung-Hui Cho. "I understand the situation."
But he added: "I don't see how somebody can get charged by writing in their homework. The teacher asked them to express themselves, and he followed instructions."
Allen Lee, an 18-year-old straight-A student at Cary-Grove High School, was arrested Tuesday near his home and charged with disorderly conduct for an essay police described as violently disturbing but not directed toward any specific person or location." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I f'ing knew this was going to happen. :(

Drive Through Worker gets peppersprayed in face by Cop

This juvenile gal is working the drivethrough when she waits on a cop. He insists that he gave her a twenty. Even after the manager checks, he doesn't believe them. He arrests and juvenile and during the process sprays her full in the face with pepperspray. Watch the full event - look what is caught on video.
This is not new, but worth watching.
He's fired, but soon gets rehired by the police force. http://www.sconet.state.oh.us/rod/newpdf/2/2001/2001-Ohio-1825.pdf
Now what this tells me, on a common sense level, is that even when cops are clearly wrong, you can't touch them.
