"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Germany to Iraq if Kerry is elected
Topic: Current Events 1:40 pm EDT, Oct 13, 2004

Go Kerry, Go Kerry, uh huh, uh huh

Defense Minister Peter Struck said the German government welcomed Kerry's proposal to convene an international conference on Iraq including countries that opposed the war if he were to win next month's election.

Struck said it was "a very sensible proposal,"

Spank me, Vile. You goin' dressed as Superman in a wheelchair for Halloween this year? :P

Am I missing something in that picture? Those look like high altitude cirrus clouds to me or ice crystals.
I don't see a single contrail.

:::conspiracy mode::: (You know what Art Bell says about contrails, don't you?)::::: :)

FBI seizes Indymedia's Server from Rackspace
Topic: Internet Civil Liberties 9:13 am EDT, Oct 11, 2004

Its just crap. They come in and subpeona Rackspace for the servers. Rackspace can't even tell the Independant Media why.

If it were not for the Independant Media's coverage of the NYC demonstrations during the Republican convention, I would still be believing that the mainstream media was more fair and balanced than some folks say.

The confiscation of the server has caused the Independant Media to no longer be available in places.

I wonder what would have happened if this had been CNN's hardware that was confiscated? Or Fox's?

They can come in and mirror a drive in no time to study. If they have to have the original they could at least leave a mirror. Why take the equipment? Is it OK for the FBI to take anyone's Internet business (data) away at a whim?

BTW, there is more detail on this at Cryptome.org. www.cryptome.org

DRUDGE REPORT 2004: Did Kerry Cheat?
Topic: Politics and Law 1:11 pm EDT, Oct  5, 2004

] What did Dem presidential contender John Kerry take out
] of his jacket as he approached the stage [with his back
] to the auditorium's audience]?
]
] What did Kerry place on the podium?

From the people who brought you the CBS news document forgery scandal, here's Jacketgate. Kerry won the debate because he seemed more on message. He didn't flounder around much and he made points his opponent couldn't rebut. Having a cheat sheet when your opponent doesn't could easily produce this effect.

Neither Rathergate nor Swiftboatgate seemed very serious to me, but I must confess to their effect. If it turns out that Kerry did bring a cheat sheet, his campaign is toast.

The mainstream press hasn't picked this up, yet.... The NY Post is claiming that if you look at it from another camera angle its a pen. I never believe anything I read in the NY Post. So, where are the other camera angles? Lets have 'em out on the net!

U Turns out it WAS just a pen.

[ Also turns out, in the video, both men take something out and put it on the podium. So, whatever, mostly. Granted the rules state that no candidate was allowed to bring anything to the podium but seriously, what the fuck. If we can't trust the candidates not to hide some sort of magic crib sheet in their pen, then they shouldn't be there in the first place. It's a dumb rule. -k]

So what if they DID have a cheat sheet? I'd rather someone check the facts than blurt off something they weren't sure about.

Drudge is a nasty little conservative pigman.

Trying to confuse the democrats? Change in voting location
Topic: Elections 8:57 am EDT, Oct  5, 2004

I've always voted about a block from my house, along with my husband. This year, I've just been informed that I was moved to a new location. I have no idea where it is! My husband, however, who lives in the same house as I do, is getting to vote at his old location.

WTH is with that?

The only thing that has changed...is that THIS year...I'm a registered democrat. He's independant.

WTH is with keeping all the democrats voting in one place?

UPDATE- Both my husband and I called the office of voter registration. As it turns out, we both were indeed moved, but only I got a new card and notice. He should have got one too. SOOOOO...I feel a lot better now. It just didn't make any sense why to move ME and not him. My dad, a registered Republican, did not get a notice to change polling places either, but he should have as well.

Conspiracy minded? Yes, I admit it...conspiracies tend to exist when things just don't add up.
