"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

This could be MY political commentary for the month.

I kinda like the song.

Breakdown of GA Gay Marriage Ban
Topic: Miscellaneous 8:58 am EST, Nov  3, 2004

Putting this crap on the ballot drove a lot of people to the polls. I would like to know why it is OK for preachers to tell people how to vote and still be nonprofit, yet one person from the NAACP says something anti-bush and the IRS is all over them. BLEH.

] BALLOT MEASURES / GEORGIA AMENDMENT 1 / EXIT POLL

I'm surprised by the way different age groups voted. The Religious attendance breakdown is amusing.

RE: MEMRI: Osama bin Laden Threatens U.S. States Not to Vote for Bush
Topic: Current Events 2:46 pm EST, Nov  2, 2004

Did nobody not notice and go HMMMM how Bin Ladin managed to pop up precisely before the election, as predicted?

The US will lose its status just like Russia did fighting Afganistan if we aren't careful.

Bin Ladin - give him the finger if you want, but jeez don't let your fear of him bankrupt us.

Elonka wrote:

] ] president has chosen to fight us, and we will consider it
] ] our enemy, and any state that will vote against Bush has

] ] to weaken it, and he wants to divide the American people

] even if the play doesn't give *me* a specific gaming

] So, this helps. The head of Al Qaeda would clearly rather

]
] I had already decided that I was voting for Bush. But now, I

This is a line of reasoning that I would agree with, except for one niggling problem. It is based on the premise that I'm not going to win. Pissing off the other guy works just fine if you're doing to set them up for something later. Pissing off the other guy AND losing to him at the same time is really not the way to go.

You got played by one of the better geopolitical strategists of our time. George W. Bush is the best recruiting tool that terrorists have ever had. He offends the national pride of most other countries, offends the religious sensability of most everyone who is not a fundamentalist Christian, and offends intelectual sensabilities worldwide with his poor decisionmaking and dishonest presentation.

I guess if we don't demand better than this, we don't deserve better.

Metallica said Kill 'Em All not Sue 'Em All! (Or did they?)

"This latest wave of federal litigation targeted 750 computer users across the nation, including 25 students at 13 universities, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, the trade group for the largest music companies. "

Red states that vote for Bush should fear?

Like Georgia....

I worry about Georgia being a red state, but not because of Osama.

Early voting in Rome, GA - A Democrat's perspective
Topic: Computers 2:53 pm EDT, Oct 27, 2004

Encouraged that Republicans are more likely to vote at lunch time, this democrat took herself down to the courthouse right before lunch to vote. It was rather unorganized. There were only 2 poll workers that I saw throughout the process. There were 4 voting machines going that I saw, but I think there may have been 4 more in another room as well since they had been calling voters back 8 at a time.

When I first walked in, I thought I was passing a courtroom of people waiting for court, but no, it was a courtroom of people waiting to vote. I quickly recognized several people from various democratic meetings and I saw a few others come in as I was waiting, so I would guess from limited observation
that the majority of early voters were democrats.

I filled out the required paperwork, and showed my ID. After an hour's wait, I was given my smart card and the busy poll worker pointed at the polling room. I saw an empty machine and went in. The voting process was not observed at all.

When I finished I left my smart card on a table. I could have easily walked out with it.

Eminem's Mosh

I tend to really like eminem. This is good. I think he would have had another secret service visit though if he'd not put the little twist at the end.

Yeah... this rocks. I've never been moved by eminem before... it's infact really really good.

If you can't get it at guerrilla news try this one: http://www.ifilm.com/viralvideo?ifilmid=2654122
