"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

C-Span Airing Of L.A. Conference Shows Mainstreaming Of 9/11 Truth
Topic: Current Events 2:17 pm EDT, Jul 28, 2006

A decision that many of us were waiting on with baited breath - C-Span's scheduling of the American Scholars Symposium highlights - infuses the 9/11 truth movement with a fresh injection of credibility and exposure to more mainstream audiences.

The panel features incredible presentations by 9/11 Scholars for Truth founder James Fetzer, BYU Physics Professor Steven Jones, President of the Institute for Space and Security Studies Dr. Robert M. Bowman, Lt. Col., USAF, ret., Filmmaker and Radio Broadcaster Alex Jones, and Terrorism Expert Webster Tarpley.

C-Span viewers will witness what many consider to be the most hard hitting conference to date including the most professional and credible speakers ever assembled.

...

The program will air on C-SPAN 1 at 8PM EST (7PM CST) on Saturday, July 29th and then air again for the West Coast at 11pm EST (10pm CST).

...

I've been a subscriber to Alex Jones' website for the last two years. I've seen most of the presentations from this conference. It's fairly amazing to me that CSPAN is airing some of the talks.

I know 9/11 conspiracies are still a hot button topic, but nothing is going to be easier that setting your Tivo's to record this and spending a couple of hours out of your life to at least hear what the people on the other side of the fence are saying.

I've been lambasted for my views in the past on Memestreams and have pretty much given up trying to talk about my research here. You have to arrive at your own conclusions. I've been equated with people who believe the towers didn't really collapse and were just special effects and Holocaust deniers in the same breath (thank you for that Elonka, it made my day let me tell you.) There are too many unanswered questions about 9/11 for me though, so I press on with research.

Still, this should be an easy pick. I really believe you should check it out. You can even watch CSPAN online if you don't have cable TV (like me.)

Would love to hear back from all of you that choose to watch it and tell me what you thought.

Soliders with critical skills being 'outted' from the military
Topic: War on Terrorism 2:17 pm EDT, Jul 28, 2006

This is the story about one particular arabic speaking soldier who has been dismissed from the military...but, the REAL story is here:

"...But the GAO also noted that nearly 800 dismissed gay or lesbian service members had critical abilities, including 300 with important language skills. Fifty-five were proficient in Arabic, including Copas, a graduate of the Defense Language Institute in California.

Discharging and replacing them has cost the Pentagon nearly $369 million, according to the Center for the Study of Sexual Minorities in the Military at the University of California, Santa Barbara."

This was a friend....and now she's dead...
Topic: Georgia 12:59 am EDT, Jul 27, 2006

This was a friend. She was such a sweet person.

My little boy is upset. They said on tv that her clothing was torn off, and her shorts were missing. My son said 'OMG I know what that means' and he ran to the bathroom. I just started crying. We found out she was missing this morning and then this afternoon they found her dead.

My sister rides that Silver Comet Trail every weekend. Now she won't do that anymore. Is that not terrorism?

When an older woman who just loves her family and children gets brutally raped and murdered it is heartbreaking and terrifying.

Why isn't it a safe world for women?

NewScientist: To heal a wound, turn up the voltage
Topic: Science 8:27 pm EDT, Jul 26, 2006

Now Josef Penninger of the Austrian Institute of Molecular Biotechnology in Vienna and Min Zhao of the University of Aberdeen, UK, have demonstrated that natural electric fields and currents in tissue play a vital role in orchestrating the wound-healing process by attracting repair cells to damaged areas.

The researchers have also identified the genes that control the process. "We were originally sceptical, but then we realised it was a real effect and looked for the genes responsible," Penninger says. "It's not homeopathy, it's biophysics."

I wonder if further research could lead to a reconciliation of sorts between eastern and western medicine?

[Rad. ]

I'm having anodyne therapy right now, which is intense infrared light therapy. I was suprised to see it listed under homeopathic medicine when my doctor prescibed it. The insurance is paying for it - let's just hope it works! Anodyne has also been shown to speed wound heeling.

'Wash Me' taken to a new level - the Dust Art of Scott Wade
Topic: Miscellaneous 8:24 pm EDT, Jul 26, 2006

As a kid there was nothing like dragging your finger across the dirty back window of your mom's minivan. Imagine lifting your finger to find you've created a Mona Lisa on the rear glass. Scott Wade of San Marcos, TX is perhaps the only person who could say he's done this.

Positive Sharing » Top 5 reasons why “The Customer Is Always Right” is wrong
Topic: Business 8:09 pm EDT, Jul 24, 2006

The phrase “The customer is always right” was originally coined by Harry Gordon Selfridge, the founder of Selfridge’s department store in London in 1909, and is typically used by businesses to:

1. Convince customers that they will get good service at this company
2. Convince employees to give customers good service

Fortunately more and more businesses are abandoning this maxim - ironically because it leads to bad customer service.

Here are the top five reasons why “The customer is always right” is wrong.

US Ebay Store Owners Subsidize China's Free Listings
Topic: Miscellaneous 4:15 pm EDT, Jul 21, 2006

eBay announced yesterday that it was more than doubling store listing fees for US sellers, and raising final value fee commissions from 8% to 10%.

They stated that they were not able to meet the cost for stores.

So what US eBayers want to know is.....why is it that WE are paying out the nose, and eBay is free for China?

Could it be that the 2,000,000 dollar share buy back is actually at the bottom of all of this?

As eBay's stocks drop lower on the news, could it be that the stock prices are being manipulated somewhat?

Discussion boards ARE heating up, and eBay has a lot of folks very angry today.

See http://cbs4.com/topstories/local_story_202091018.html for more details on the price increase itself.
