"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Criminal charges dropped in marketing stunt - The Boston Globe
Topic: Current Events 3:09 pm EDT, May 13, 2007

Two local artists whose guerrilla marketing stunt caused a day of bomb scares in the Boston region -- and then fueled public outrage by appearing to make light of the incident -- apologized in court yesterday as prosecutors dropped the criminal charges against them.

Fueled public outrage?

Michael Flanagan, president of the MBTA Police Association, said he was angry with the settlement.

"I'm upset we had to use so many resources and dedicated so much time and energy to these kids who were just playing around and obviously amused by their actions," he said.

Whose fault is that?

(Not for kids) Parez Hilton nabs another Celebrity Crotch shot
Topic: Miscellaneous 5:05 pm EDT, May  6, 2007

Not for the easily offended. This is sophmoric and crude. lol

I can't help it. I have a very frivolous side that really enjoys Parez Hilton's sense of humor. It is vicious.

He's nabbed a lot of celebrity OOPS crotch shots. This time, he's got Beyonce as she pops a squat during a concert.

But - to me at least - what is really funny are the comments.

I have to check this site once a day. It is my celebrity news bright spot. No pun intended.

McClatchy Washington Bureau | 04/27/2007 | Justice Dept official resigns over investigation connected with Abramoff
Topic: Politics and Law 10:57 am EDT, Apr 30, 2007

A senior Justice Department official has resigned after coming under scrutiny in the Department’s expanding investigation of convicted super-lobbyist Jack Abramoff, according to a Justice Department official with knowledge of the case.

Making the situation more awkward for the embattled Department, the official, Robert E. Coughlin II, was deputy chief of staff for the criminal division, which is overseeing the Department’s probe of Abramoff.

Whoops! Who could have seen this one coming? At this rate? Anyone. Find a henhouse and figure whoever George has put in charge of it is a fox raiding it.

New York Post Blatantly Insults Wiccan Soldiers - Indeed, all wiccans
Topic: Religion 9:57 pm EDT, Apr 28, 2007

(Picture of paper at link above.)
"Dear Friends, This recent headstone victory for Wiccans is indeed an historic moment, but it has been dampened by The New York Post. While the text of the article was a fair and balanced report, it was accompanied by a mocking and insulting composite picture of what a Wiccan GI's headstone would look like. The said photograph is seen below. We will let the picture speak for itself, but I think we should let the Post know how insulted and outraged we all are. Please send a letter to the editor and call the editorial room if you are as insulted as we are. Their email is: letters@nypost.com and the phone #: 212 930 8000.

We've received a few emails wondering if the photo composite is a hoax, as if the New York Post would be above printing such an apalling thing. Those emailers obviously didn't know the Post - it is an ultra-conservative rag that routinely mocks and shocks. We might have dismissed this newspaper as such - - if it weren't for it's large circulation in the Metro NY Area, and it's sizeable distribution through NYC's school system!"
