"A Pentagon investigation last year by Major General George Fay reported that in January 2004, a leashed but unmuzzled guard dog was allowed into a cell holding two children. The intention was for the dog to "'go nuts on the kids,' barking and scaring them." Brigadier General Janis Karpinski, formerly in charge of Abu Ghraib, told Fay about visiting a weeping 11-year-old in the prison's notorious Cellblock 1B, which housed prisoners designated high risk. "He told me he was almost 12," Karpinski recalled, and that "he really wanted to see his mother, could he please call his mother." Children like this have been denied the right to see their parents, a lawyer or anyone else. They were not told why they were detained, let alone for how long. A Pentagon spokesman told Hersh that juveniles received some special care, but added, "Age is not a determining factor in detention." Children, too, are abused in U.S. prisons |

Murder at Abu Ghraib - Controlled Release News? |

I had recalled hearing the testimony during the hearings that the pictures the media had got were the tip of the iceberg - torture lite, so to speak, and that the unreleased photos were much worse - that there was evidence of murder and sodomy that had happened at Abu Ghraib. I had heard that there were many other pictures and even movies on 2 CDs. I kept waiting for the story to break -surely as it was a public hearing the media heard it too and would be looking into that further - especially the part about rape and the murder.... the rape of an underage Iraqi male prisoner....but I never heard another thing about it....until...this. Gotta love the US MEDIA and controlled release news. Murder at Abu Ghraib - Controlled Release News? |

Noam Chomsky: U.S. Might Face 'Ultimate Nightmare' in Middle East Where Shiites Control Most of World's Oil |

One of the country's leading dissidents, MIT Professor Noam Chomsky, gives a major new address on the Iraq war, the re-election of President Bush and imperialism. On Iraq's elections, Chomsky predicts what a Shiite-controlled Iraq may look like: "The first thing they'll do is reestablish relations with Iran...The next thing that might happen is that a Shiite-controlled, more or less democratic Iraq might stir up feelings in the Shiite areas of Saudi Arabia, which happen to be right nearby and which happen to be where all the oil is. So you might find what in Washington must be the ultimate nightmare-a Shiite region which controls most of the world's oil and is independent." Make SURE you watch the video. The woman should have been comforted and heard, not arrested. The mother of a dead soldier has made the absolute biggest sacrifice that can be made. As a mom of a young man that I love more than my own life, I really commisurate with her. I'd rather be dead myself than have something happen to him. I also admire her for her spunk. I watched this video. I won't post a link to it, because that could be something that someone might impulsively click on and see without meaning to. However, I will tell you that OGrish has it. Its bad. Its by far the worst and most brutal I've seen yet. It starts like the other ones, with him kneeling as his murderers read their stupid proclamation, of what I don't know. The poor man is blindfolded and terrified. They pull him over to the side, same methodology, and slowly kill him as he screams. He's obviously aware until the very end, and in great fear and pain. Its brutal, its animalistic and its cowardly. Once again the killers hide in their little black ninja looking costumes so their faces cannot be seen. Besides the horrible death of a prisoner in their charge, I think that is the part that bothers me the most. That someone would film a killing wearing a mask and obstructive clothing. They treat their victims like cattle, yet they wear masks. They have to know in some part of their being that they are wrong and should be ashamed, yet they ignore it. And that, to me, is the embodiment of evil. |
