Kami, the HIV-Carrying Member of Sesame Street!
Topic: Society 6:54 pm EST, Nov 25, 2003

The South African version of the popular children's show "Sesame Street" has introduced Kami, an upbeat and brightly colored yellow puppet who enjoys education, learning, and carrying the AIDS virus. The character was created in response to the South Africian governments attempts to remove some the social stigma associated with carrying the AIDS virus.

Shortest/Best Personality Test

A very short (4 question) temperment [FYI: personality=current patterns of behavior, is subject to learning. temperment=innate trends in patterns of behavior set at birth, generally people are more comfortable when they act in accordance with their temperment] test based on Myers-Briggs/Keirsey temperment tests.

Definitely nothing new here, but it's only 4 questions, uses the same basis as the rest of them, and provides nifty links for more information at the end.

I'll take a shot at an attempt to understand it. From what I understand (mostly from 3rd party academic analysises of the religious texts), that women would want to be beautiful and the men denying them this fits well with the Koran. I recall specifically from the Koran that, "There were 10 parts of [sexual] desire, of which 9 were given to women." Some detail is gone into that most women are primarily sexual tempetresses to ensnare and distract men from other better (more holy?) persuits.

I guess if you accepted this it would seem rather reasonable to want to restrict womens' clothing in the manner described.
