This is why the Universe is screwed up. Because some imbecile judge decided that Corporations have the same rights as persons. Fix this and you've come a long way towards fixing everything. Ridiculous things like corporate ownership of copyrights, indictment of Andersen, and the ability of corporations (meaning their manager/owners) to avoid responsibility for their actions all go away. Corporations are not people. They are conglomerations of people. It's like equating a barrel full of apples with a single apple. It's broken logic. To put it more simply, if corporations suddenly did not exist would it really matter? No, of course not. It's not like if people suddenly existed. Their are just a construct of our common consciousness. A creation. A Straw Man. Santa Clara County v. Southern Pac. R.R. |

Cool. Anti-M$ T-shirts. If only I had some money...I guess the joke is probably a bit esoteric for those who don't know what KMFDM is purported to stand for, but that only makes the shirt that much more interesting. Order KMFMS T-Shirts and Mousepads |

"The delegation left yesterday after also visiting Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria. LaHood said the delegation stressed in every country it visited the US does not accept distinctions between terrorism and "national liberation movements." "We were all very firm in our position that Hizbullah is a terror organization, and terror in the guise of national liberation is not something we will accept, and we will not support governments that support those actions," LaHood said. " Look, I'll be the first to admit of my particular left slant toward politics, but can you honestly tell me that National Liberation Movements are automatically terrorists? That makes our American forefathers terrorists. Is that true? I'll leave aside the more obvious arguments about what the definition of terrorism is and simply point to the fact that this should be the focus of discussion. Eliminating it as a discussion and simply allowing all current national governments to define it as they choose without argument of any kind is asking for trouble. Whether or not you believe Hizbollah is a terrorist organization or a NLM, to dismiss all NLMs as terrorist organizations is ridiculous. Not to mention it immediately says that the U.S. has backed terrorist organizations historically (the Contras in Nicaragua for example). Hello Fascism, here we come! Excellent article about the Law being silent during wartime. Found on Slashdot. Great example of a need for a message to have two topics. This belongs under both "Law" and "September 11th". FindLaw's Writ - Levinson: What Is The Constitution's Role In Wartime? |
