"Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind... War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same reputation and prestige that the warrior does today." -- John F. Kennedy |

"What happened on Sept. 11 was a failure of doctrine, in that pilots and personnel on airlines were told to be passive, to accommodate terrorists if they struck. The doctrine was revised and changed by an ad hoc committee of a dozen Americans rebelling on Flight 93 within one hour of attack. No FAA, no Senate Committee. It was done by an ad hoc committee. And no one has questioned the committee%u2019s decision. That%u2019s power. Performed by amateurs." Privacy Foundation: Privacy Watch |

"The delegation left yesterday after also visiting Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria. LaHood said the delegation stressed in every country it visited the US does not accept distinctions between terrorism and "national liberation movements." "We were all very firm in our position that Hizbullah is a terror organization, and terror in the guise of national liberation is not something we will accept, and we will not support governments that support those actions," LaHood said. " Look, I'll be the first to admit of my particular left slant toward politics, but can you honestly tell me that National Liberation Movements are automatically terrorists? That makes our American forefathers terrorists. Is that true? I'll leave aside the more obvious arguments about what the definition of terrorism is and simply point to the fact that this should be the focus of discussion. Eliminating it as a discussion and simply allowing all current national governments to define it as they choose without argument of any kind is asking for trouble. Whether or not you believe Hizbollah is a terrorist organization or a NLM, to dismiss all NLMs as terrorist organizations is ridiculous. Not to mention it immediately says that the U.S. has backed terrorist organizations historically (the Contras in Nicaragua for example). Hello Fascism, here we come!
