Engadget | HOW-TO: Make your own annotated multimedia Google map
Topic: Web Design 11:26 pm EST, Mar  8, 2005

] One of the great things about Google maps is it has its
] roots in XML. To translate for the non-web developers out
] there, it basically means Google maps are user hackable.
] This how-to will show you how to make your own annotated
] Google map from your own GPS data. Plus, you'll be able
] to tie in images and video to create an interactive
] multimedia map. We'll walk you through the steps we
] took to generate an annotated map of a walk we took
] recently through our hometown, now that it's actually
] starting to get warm enough to want to walk about!

Mapping Google Maps
Topic: Web Design 3:30 am EST, Feb 10, 2005

] By now, many of you will have gone and tried out the new
] Google Maps application. By and large, you have to admit
] that it's pretty damned slick for a DHTML web application
] -- even my wife was impressed, and that's not easy with
] geek toys. So, in the spirit of Google Suggest and GMail,
] I've decided to have a quick peek under the hood to
] figure out what makes it tick.

A review of Google's web ninja technique.

Push Button Paradise in Print: O'Reilly XForms Essentials
Topic: Web Design 1:18 am EST, Dec 30, 2003

] Micah takes you through the basics, shows you where
] XForms fits with other W3C standards, and gets you
] started with authoring. Once you're feeling a bit more
] confident this book serves as an excellent reference,
] with enough examples for you to copy and try out for
] yourself. The great thing about this book is that there
] isn't too much of it. It gives a good grounding in the
] subject without any waffle.

The full text of the book is available in HTML. Good timing. I've been meaning to learn XForms.
