] Nader takes on the SEC, will a campaign be next? Bit by ] bit, Ralph Nader does what he does best, annoying those ] who abuse power. This last year, he has kept with ] advocacy that is in parallel with smart campaign strategy ] and the creation of the SEC watchdog group is an example ] of that. The Greens are still debating him in the forums, ] wondering if he is still their guy. Maybe they should be ] asking if he's OUR guy? Nader takes on the SEC, will a campaign be next? | Metafilter |

I like currency thats different colors and sizes. Its easier to deal with, sort in your wallet, in the dark, etc.. When you are in a dark club, telling the difference between bills can be a pain in the ass. I'd rather see different sizes then colors. Different sizes also sounds like it might help with the counterfeit money angle too. Color change to $20 bills imminent - Mar. 5, 2003 |

ldap2dns is a program to create DNS (Domain Name Service) records directly from a LDAP directory. It can and should be be used to replace the secondary name-server by a second primary one. ldap2dns reduces all kind of administration overhead: No more flat file editing, no more zone file editing. After having installed ldap2dns, the administrator only has to access the LDAP directory. Optionally she can add access control for each zone, create a GUI and add all other kind of zone and resource record information without interfering with the DNS server. ---- Now you have to appreciate this! Going to look at this in more legnth later.. LDAP to DNS gateway |

] A man was charged with trespassing in a mall after he ] refused to take off a T-shirt that said "Peace on Earth" ] and "Give peace a chance." ] ] Mall security approached Stephen Downs, 61, and his ] 31-year-old son, Roger, on Monday night after they were ] spotted wearing the T-shirts at Crossgates Mall in a ] suburb of Albany, the men said. This is just WRONG. Unless this article (and the one on CNN) are missing something, like the guy became irate and threatened security guards or something like that, this is way over the line. You can't wear a tee shirt in the mall that advocates peace? This mall is going to feel some serious heat. Man Arrested for Wearing Peace T-Shirt |

By Molly Moore Washington Post Foreign Service Wednesday, July 4, 2001; Page A01 TEHRAN -- Arash Fahimi is a teenager in a nation that frowns on dating, outlaws rock music and offers a 17-year-old almost no chance for travel beyond its borders. But Fahimi, like hundreds of thousands of young Iranians, has discovered an escape from his cultural cocoon. Sitting at a computer terminal in an Internet cafe, he downloads the latest Western pop music hits and chats daily with cyber-acquaintances around the globe. He even found a girlfriend on the Internet. "I want to have a better idea of what the world is like," said Fahimi, earphones clamped under a Nike baseball cap and fingers tapping out a chat room response on his screen. "If I can't make a trip abroad, the Internet is the best way." washingtonpost.com: Cybermania Takes Iran by Surprise |

Tiny webserver, without the fly |

] In the photo above is the webACE: a Fairchild ACE1101MT8 ] microcontroller programmed as a Web server and containing ] two tiny web pages in its on-chip memory. Since the ] ACE1101MT8 is the smallest available microcontroller, I ] believe that this really is the World's Smallest Web ] Server. This is the platform used in that fly article. This article is a little more informative. I don't really care about the fly. I care about the server. Links to a number of other more practical platforms such as PIC based servers (they are technically larger, but basically the idea is the same). A little digging and you'll find a number of open source TCP/IP stacks for microcontrollers. This is of use if you want to embed internet connectivity into extremely small devices. The next question is how small can you make your bluetooth transmitter. Tiny webserver, without the fly |

] The music industry has been spoiled. They have controlled ] the distribution of music by producing CDs, and thereby ] have also protected their profits. So they have resisted ] Internet distribution. Six years ago I asked Sony Music ] to start working with IBM to figure out how to offer ] secured distribution of their content over the Net. But ] nobody in Sony Music would listen. Then about six months ] ago, they started to panic. ] Nokia is focused on volumeĀselling as many cell phones as ] possible at a low price. But in my observation, I am not ] sure they know very clearly what the real opportunity is ] in the telephone business. We are talking about secure ] distribution of music on the phone. Nokia and Sony were the primary investors behind a music searching technology company I worked at. One of the key areas of interest was cell phones. Granted, that particular R&D thread is probably dead to both Nokia and Sony, due to who bought the company. Sony's CEO Unplugged :: AO |

Dear President Bush, I write as a proud American and a resident of one of its many great cities: Seattle. You've probably heard of us; Space Needle, mountains, trees, salmon. Microsoft. When you owned the Texas Rangers baseball club, your team was in the same division as our Mariners. We stunk back then. We hope you remain grateful. Oh, and Boeing sends its deepest love. Mr. President, I have an enormous favor to ask of you. Could you bomb us? Not just once or twice for show; I mean really bomb the city of Seattle, hard, like what you're planning for Baghdad, and probably for Pyongyang and Teheran and Damascas and whatever other 50 or 60 major world cities are on your Pentagon planners' current lists. I mean blast us back to the stone age. Make it hurt. Send us a message. WorkingForChange-Please bomb Seattle |
