The Washington Post has a website which lists each and every casualty in Iraq, in order, with their photos, personal info, etc. Its not quite as enduring as names engraved in a granite wall, but they will get that as well at some point. If all goes well, in two places. One here and one in Iraq. If all goes really well, the one in Iraq will be celebrated more. washingtonpost.com: Faces of the Fallen |

Our humvees pass by a body of a man in the center of the street. There is a hole through his left eye socket where a Marine sniper round passed cleanly through. Insurgent snipers begin firing in front of the Marines. One round pierces the Kevlar helmet a twenty-year-old Mark 19 gunner -- in my vehicle. He is badly wounded. He's put in a canvas stretcher and six Marines run through the streets carrying him to a waiting military ambulance. The Marines know they are being hunted. Boxed from the east and the west in a treacherous kill zone by an enemy they can feel -- but can't see. Their superior firepower is checked by the insurgent's knowledge of the city -- their cunning in using blind alleyways and the crooks and crannies of buildings to pick off the Marines. Kevin Sites checks in from the front lines of the Battle of Fallujah. You can almost smell the gunpowder, as you sit safely behind your monitor. Semper fidelis! ] Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, 75, the ] leader who passionately sought a homeland for his people ] but was seen by many Israelis as a ruthless terrorist and ] a roadblock to peace, died early Thursday in Paris. Let me say a phrase I'm sure we will be blasted with over the next few days: History will not look kindly upon Yasser Arafat. Things may have been very different today if he took a different action in 2000. Things may have been very different today if he did not continue to resort to (and practically invent) terrorist tactics. It may now be possible to make significant headway toward peace between Palestine and Israel. Maybe.. CNN.com - Palestinian leader Arafat dies at 75 |

This is the second storm that has made a direct hit on my grandmother's house. Francis ripped off her car port, destroyed her porch, ripped one room right off the house, removed a good chunk of roof, etc.. She has been staying with my family in Jersey since. We have yet to receive any reports about how much damage this storm has done. The area is still under curfew. The people of Florida have had enough. We must stop Bin Laden and his infernal weather machine. Weather Underground: Tropical Storm: Jeanne Tracking Map |
