YouTube - Trojan Horse Test
Topic: Humor 6:09 pm EDT, Jul 17, 2007

This rocks. some Australian guys build a Trojan Horse full of people dressed like Greek solders, and then try to get it past security into various places in Sydney. The only place that denies them access is the Turkish Consulate.

Czech pranksters sneak mushroom cloud into weather report
Topic: Humor 9:31 am EDT, Jun 18, 2007

This video was found on BoingBoing:

A reader writes, "Like many European TV channels the state-owned CT2 broadcasts live panorama / weather streams from popular recreation areas in its morning programme, fully automated 30 second pans per site with music in the background. Initiative Ztohoven, a collective around Roman Tyc, somehow managed to inject a pre-recorded pan with a sudden atomic explosion in the midst of a beautiful countryside. No word how they did it, assume they tricked the cabling on the unmanned camera site. Tyc also replaced traffic light icons in Prague with illustrations of drunk, pissing or ranting figures a few months ago."

This is perfect to go with International Panic Day.

Unlike the World Trade Center, the 580/980/880/80 overpass was reinforced against earthquakes and was not under the enormous compressive load that the towers were when they fell. The overpass was designed to support gridlocked traffic in an earthquake, but it collapsed without even a single car on it. The fire consumed only 8,600 gallons of fuel, whereas the WTC was allegedly brought down by 24,000 gallons of fuel. Does Governor Schwarzenegger really expect us to believe a story even more preposterous than the already-discredited official story about 9/11?To answer the question “Who is responsible for this terrible tragedy?” we must ask who stood to gain the most. George Soros? The California Department of Transportation? The Jews?

We pray that those drawn to the 4/29 issue by sensationalist claims will stay long enough to learn the less theatrical but equally damning truth.

This is hilarious!

Satire: Experts call for restrictions on childhood imagination - CNN.com
Topic: Humor 2:43 pm EST, Feb 22, 2007

"Defuse the ticking time-bomb known as your child's imagination before it explodes and destroys her completely," said child-safety expert Kenneth McMillan, who advised the HHS in composing the guidelines. "New data shows a disturbing correlation between serious accidents and the ability of children to envision a world full of exciting possibility."

The guidelines, titled "Boundless Imagination, Boundless Hazards: Ways To Keep Your Kids Safe From A World Of Wonder," are posted on the HHS website, and will also be available in brochure form in pediatricians' offices across the country.

According to McMillan, children can suffer broken bones, head trauma, and even fatal injuries from unsupervised exposure to childlike awe. "If your children are allowed to unlock their imaginations, anything from a backyard swing set to a child's own bedroom can be transformed into a dangerous undersea castle or dragon's lair," McMillan said. "But by encouraging your kids to think linearly and literally, and constantly reminding them they can never be anything but human children with no extraordinary characteristics, you can better ensure that they will lead prolonged lives."

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
Topic: Humor 8:31 am EST, Jan 28, 2007

Recently, xkcd has caught the attention of several users on MemeStreams. Jokes about romance and mathematics go over well with this crop of nerds.

If you are riding that meme, I suggest checking out Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. In many ways, it has the same general thing going on, but it is way more mean spirited... And that's a good thing.

This comic publishes daily as well, so you can use it as something to balance off your daily dose of Dilbert, Doonesbury, and Sinfest.

Mind Games
Topic: Humor 9:37 am EST, Jan 22, 2007

New on the Internet: a community of people who believe the government is beaming voices into their minds. They may be crazy, but the Pentagon has pursued a weapon that can do just that.

While I am quite relieved that the US government is taking the heat for all the problems with the Industrial Memetics MemeRay, I feel horrible about it. It's truly frustrating. It seems like no matter what we tweak, the messages people receive are not the ones we are sending. sigh...

We remain comitted. We will get the MemeRay working properly. Eventually our TIs will receive a steady stream of messages that enforce our client's brands, provide news alerts, tips on penny stocks, deals on pharmaceuticals, and other information crafted to improve their lives.

O'Reilly, Colbert to appear on each other's shows - CNN.com
Topic: Humor 7:36 pm EST, Jan  9, 2007

It may feel like looking into the mirror for Bill O'Reilly and Stephen Colbert next week.

The Fox News Channel host and Colbert, who has essentially based his comic character every evening on Comedy Central on him, will trade appearances on each other's programs January 18.

"I'm really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me," O'Reilly said.

On "The Colbert Report," Colbert portrays a self-involved talk-show host who has tried to bring "truthiness" to the world. His character owes an obvious debt to O'Reilly, who holds court in the "no-spin zone" each evening.

On "The O'Reilly Factor," O'Reilly portrays a ... um, he hosts the top-rated program in cable news.

"I look forward to the evening," Colbert said. "It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O'Reilly."

Note that CNN breaks AP style to take a swipe at O'Reilly in the second to last paragraph... Nice.

I expect this to be damn entertaining.

Defense Tech: We Get Letters: 'Sats Attacking My Brain'
Topic: Humor 10:27 am EST, Dec 16, 2006

Defense Tech relays this email from a poor fellow who is being targeted by the US Government's Orbital Mind Control Lasers (OMCL). Either that, or he is just nuts. There is also a slight possibility he just has a great sense of humor.

Dear Sir,

Satellite Technology could be used on terrorist. If a terrorist is caught the "lasered" with Satellite technology then let go. That individual can be monitored 24/7/365 with out ever knowing that it is being done to him. Follow the rat back to the nest. If the "laser" that can shock the nervous system is also applied then that individual can be controlled to a certain extent. Sleep deprivation can be used and the shocking of the nervous system takes allot out of the individual. I know it is being used on me.

I am sending you this because I do not know who else to turn to. Satellite technology is being used on me. The only proof I have is other people hearing these people. My dentist, people at a coffee shop, barber, suppermarket, everywhere I go ect... I hoped that I was just mentally ill but when other people can hear them then it's not me. Me I am having sleep deprivation, shocking to my nervous system and other disruptive things being done to me utilizing this technology.

Remember the MIT paper on prevention of mind control rays? Also on DefenseTech, there is an interesting post about the Air Force's satellite hackers. Orbital mind control systems are highly vulnerable.

Yet another reason why The Industrial Memetics Institute will have the upper hand in the blooming mind control industry. The Industrial Memetics MemeRay Mind Influence Platform (MRMIP) is purely terrestrial, leading to lower implementation costs and higher ROI. Furthermore, our system is designed specifically for commercial application. There will be no curve in adapting military technology for use in the private sector, and no problems with declassification of technology specifications. We care only about our patent royalties, and your business!

MRMIP will be able to create levels of brand identification that normally takes a decade to achieve, in just a few minutes. No longer will it be necessary to wage series after series of nationwide marketing campaigns in order to make your brand a household name! After we turn MRMIP on your target market, consumers will be unable to get your brand out of their daily thoughts for years to come.
