The DNA fingerprinting inventor, Sir Alec, will lead the shortlist for the prestigious Millennium Technology Prize. The other contenders include Dr. Andrew Viterbi, the inventor of algorithm widely used today in communications, and Professor Robert Langer, a biomaterial pioneer. The winner receives 800,000 euros. Other inventors are awarded with 115,000 euros each.
