Seriously. This is definitely above and beyond the usual. No crazy patterns, no violent blinkingness, no creepy face to spring out at you.
Go to the site, and check out the castle by putting your mouse cursor over the image. Notice that it's entirely black and white. Move your mouse pointer off to one side of the image. Now, just like it says, stare at the dot in the center for about 30 seconds, and don't move your head or look away. Relax your eyes even. Then without looking away, move the mouse pointer back into the image.
VIBRANT COLOR!
When you blink and it goes *pffT!* back to black and white is pretty trippy.

Abizaid: US military has failed to embrace cyberspace in terror war
Topic: Technology
3:31 am EDT, Aug 4, 2007
Here is retired Army Gen. John Abizaid, former CENTCOM commander, on June 20, at Transformation Warfare '07:
“The enemy is in fact more networked, more decentralized, and operates within a broader commander’s intent than any 20th century foe we’ve ever met,” he said. “In fact, this enemy is better networked than we are.”
Tapping information is particularly vital to empower lower-level American soldiers in theater, but the “architectures and the switches” are now being pulled by generals and politicians, he said.
He said because too many stovepipes and bureaucrats hamper the effective use of technology in the field, it may be time for a national dialogue after the 2008 elections about reforming the defense establishment to fight future wars.
Abizaid scolded reporters for not telling enough stories about the enemy.
I am not one to panic, or to say "I told you so", but damn, this is scary. If you vote, if you hope to some day be able to vote, if you think Shelly was right, if you breath, you need to examine this email and WAKE UP!
__________________________________________________ This came to me in email from someone I know and she just got this in her department at a University in Kentucky. I don't have permission to post this but think it is important and should be gotten out so, if your voting with computers be careful, and if your voting with computers in Kentucky be especially so. __________________________________________________

I voted today because I'm heading out of state soon, and I wanted to tell you about my experience with computerized voting. I tried to vote a straight ticket (something I have never done before but I'm thoroughly pissed off, so, as Rumsfeld would say, "Back off"), but when I checked the final page, which summarizes one's vote, I noticed that I had voted for some of the candidates of the other party. I went to the first screen again and ticked the straight ticket box for the Democratic party, and, again, I found that for all of the contested races the Republican boxes were ticked. I had to go through individually to tick the Democratic boxes.
No, xxxxxxx, I'm not a Democrat, and I don't suspect vast right-wing some conspiracy, although xxxxxx does. I'm just telling those of you who will be voting soon to check the summarizing page carefully, regardless of your voting preferences.
And, no, xxxxx, the machines don't have a yellow reset button on the back so that you can vote many times.
