Facing Up to Michael Jackson (washingtonpost.com)

] Just when I think television is a "vast wasteland," the
] networks announce a program that blows whatever mind I
] have left.
] Recently, NBC announced as part of the February sweeps it
] will present a one-hour prime-time special titled
] "Michael Jackson, Unmasked." It will be devoted to a
] study of the pop star's career through studying his face.
]
] A TV sweeps month is a very important time for the
] networks because they can set their advertising rates
] based on the ratings of shows. The word in Hollywood is
] that one of the NBC suits came up with the idea.

Topic: Miscellaneous 10:48 am EST, Feb  7, 2003

] I think the most disturbing outcome of the documentary
] was Martin Bashir's conduct. He had a massive opportunity
] to show the world what MJ is really about, his day to day
] living, his world, his life, his worries, his
] tribulations, etc. 8 months of access and what did Martin
] show us? Tabloid sensationalism!! Martin really needs to
] look in the mirror as much as MJ and ask himself, did he
] produce a programme worthy of the 8 months spent with MJ?
] I was cringing at the tone, manner, demeanour that Martin
] undertook. Poor by any standards. Please send in Ruby or
] Louis next time!!
] In the end MJ came across a man that had a lot of love
] for kids and he trying to make for a lost childhood,
] given that MJ has alot of money it is only logical that
] many of us would do exactly the same? Really the world
] should question itself - is what MJ is doing really that
] wrong?
] I suppose the only thing that I disliked about MJ was
] that he couldnt bring himself to be honest about the
] plastic surgery.
] Nasser, England
] The interview changed my whole perspective of Michael
] Jackson. The tabloids mould him into what can sell a
] paper, not the gifted man that made one of the biggest
] impacts on music today. He is brave to have let himself
] open to the public like he has. I was astonished to see
] the tabloids this mornin

Hands-on: Enter the Matrix - Enter the Matrix News for All at GameSpot
Topic: Games 12:06 am EST, Feb  6, 2003

We had a chance to try out a demo of the upcoming Matrix game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC at a press event in Los Angeles last night. The game is being developed by Shiny Entertainment and is slated for release this May in conjunction with the release of The Matrix Reloaded movie. While the game will obviously have ties to the upcoming film, it will feature an original story--developed in conjunction between Shiny and Larry and Andy Wachowski--that will intertwine with and expand on events and characters from the film. The game focuses on two characters, Niobe and Ghost. You select one character to play as from the start, and you'll see different levels or play different roles in the action depending on your selection. The demo we played, while still early, gave us a sample of the fighting, driving, and flying levels in the game.

Game Boy: Hands-on with the Game Boy Advance SP
Topic: Technology 9:11 am EST, Feb  5, 2003

Nintendo held an intimate meeting in Las Vegas (January 7, 2003) to give the industry a hands-on experience with its brand new Game Boy design that it unveiled on Tuesday, the Game Boy Advance SP. Many of the units at the meeting were actually marked on the bottom with what might be the unit's original system name: Game Boy Advance DX. But it's the Game Boy Advance SP, and it will forever be known as the Game Boy Advance SP. And incidentally, "SP" stands for "Special."

First of all, the unit is small. The Game Boy Advance can pretty much fit in the middle of a regular Game Boy Advance system. When folded, it's nearly the same thickness as the original Game Boy Advance, and it's as "tall" as a GBA as well...but its width is nearly cut in half, making the thing way more portable than its older brother.
