"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Theodore Roosevelt

Critics point to Colorado, one of the first states to pass term limits in 1990. Diane Rees, a lobbyist for the past 30 years in Denver, said term limits there have resulted in a near total loss of institutional memory and an increase in power of staff and bureaucrats.

We have fomented civil war in Iraq. We have probably fomented internecine war in the Muslim world between the Shias and the Sunnis, and I think Bush may well have started the third world war, all for their own personal policies.

Bush Was Set on Path to War, Memo by British Adviser Says - New York Times |

A brief clause in the memo refers to a third possibility, mentioned by Mr. Bush, a proposal to assassinate Saddam Hussein. The memo does not indicate how Mr. Blair responded to the idea.
Now it seems to me if me whacked him (and got away with it) there wouldn't have been a need for war, but since killing him was discussed as a means to provoke one, that REALLY makes me wonder what the actual reason for the war was. I hope Helen Thomas hits him on this again. Bush Was Set on Path to War, Memo by British Adviser Says - New York Times |

Another cleric, Ayatullah Asife Muhseni, told a gathering of preachers and intellectuals at a Kabul hotel that the Afghan president had no right to overturn the punishment of an apostate. He also demanded that clerics be able to question Rahman in jail to discover why he had converted to Christianity. He suggested it could have been the result of a conspiracy by Western nations or Jews.
I really have to laugh. Every time someone trots out "moderate Islam," they do something like this. Pressure Grows to Free Afghan Convert - Yahoo! News |

Huckabee’s answer was laced with important misconceptions about science. Perhaps the most insidious problem with his response is that it plays on our sense of democracy and free expression. But several court decisions have concluded that fairness and free expression are not violated when public school teachers are required to teach the approved curriculum. These decisions recognized that teaching creationism is little more than thinly veiled religious advocacy.
Long, but the basics are, schools ignore the what the state says is the curriculum because if they don't the fundamentalists go nuts. Arkansas Times: Arkansas Devolves. |

Savanna Samson did just that, but when it received a score of 90 to 91 out of 100 by wine guru Robert Parker, the project became serious. It turns out Samson, the star of "The New Devil in Miss Jones," has produced an exceptional wine, becoming the toast of two industries: wine-making and pornography.
Not only is the story unusual, but I'm wondering what the folks at Reuters were thinking uploading the photos for this one... Porn star hits it big as wine-maker - Yahoo! News |
