The uncle of one survivor, a 13-year-old girl, told Knight Ridder that the girl had watched the Marines open fire on her family and that she had held her 5-year-old brother in her arms as he died. The girl shook visibly as her uncle relayed her account, too traumatized to recount what happened herself.

Returning to Baghdad in late 2003 to join the CIA-commissioned Iraq Survey Group in a senior role, Barton found that specialists had dismissed the "biotrailer" suspicions. Strong evidence showed the units were instead designed to make hydrogen for weather balloons, as Iraqis claimed. David Kay, then chief inspector, has since said that in December 2003 George J. Tenet, then CIA director, wouldn't accept this finding. That February, Tenet claimed in a Washington speech that the trailers could be used to make bioweapons. Barton says he, too, ran into roadblocks in early 2004 when he sought to include the trailer analysis in a report. Barton quotes the American head of the biological team, whom Barton doesn't name, as telling him, "You don't understand how difficult it is to say anything different" from the public CIA line.
Remember the flap about the Washington Post saying that they knew the trailers weren't weapons labs before Bush said they were? It turns out they had that information surpressed so they could keep saying it. Can both the President and Vice-President be impeached simultaneously? Phone Records used to stop ABC News |

ABC News does not know how the government determined who we are calling, or whether our phone records were provided to the government as part of the recently-disclosed NSA collection of domestic phone calls. Other sources have told us that phone calls and contacts by reporters for ABC News, along with the New York Times and the Washington Post, are being examined as part of a widespread CIA leak investigation.
Well we now know one thing they're doing with the records. It's not basic pattern stuff, this is targeted to stop the press. Phone Records used to stop ABC News |

Hey, memo to the president and congressional leaders who signed up on this lousy program; We don‘t trust you anymore. We don‘t trust you with our phone bills. We don‘t trust you with our bank records. We don‘t trust you with our medical histories. From now on, if you want to look at Americans‘ private records, get a damn search warrant!
Wow. Even the wingnuts are signing up to rip this one. I would love to see Congress grow some balls and start taking these guys down. The name of the game is "Violation of your oath of office." For every one of these people, it is to protect, preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States. It's time for the legislature and judiciary to clean out the executive. The movie itself though isn't bad. It's well paced, reasonably quick, if a bit predictable, has one specific plot hole you can drive a truck through (I'll not say what it is because it would be a big spoiler) and overall, it's decent enough.
No politics this time, it's my movie review for Poseiden. Pretty good in some respects, not so good in others. Maybe it'll help you decide where to spend that movie money. American Dissent: Sinking Ship |

NSA has massive database of Americans' phone calls - Yahoo! News |

As a result, domestic call records - those of calls that originate and terminate within U.S. borders - were believed to be private. Sources, however, say that is not the case. With access to records of billions of domestic calls, the NSA has gained a secret window into the communications habits of millions of Americans. Customers' names, street addresses and other personal information are not being handed over as part of NSA's domestic program, the sources said. But the phone numbers the NSA collects can easily be cross-checked with other databases to obtain that information.
So they're actually spying on EVERYONE. I don't have words to descibe this, and the nicest name that comes to mind is Joe Stalin. Enough. NSA has massive database of Americans' phone calls - Yahoo! News |

Why the anger? It can be summed up in one run-on sentence: We have lost two towers in New York, a part of the Pentagon, an important American city called New Orleans, our economic solvency, our global reputation, our moral authority, our children's future, we have lost tens of thousands of American soldiers to death and grievous injury, we must endure the Abramoffs and the Cunninghams and the Libbys and the whores and the bribes and the utter corruption, we must contemplate the staggering depth of the hole we have been hurled down into, and we expect little to no help from the mainstream DC press, whose lazy go-along-to-get-along cocktail-circuit mentality allowed so much of this to happen because they failed comprehensively to do their job. George W. Bush and his pals used September 11th against the American people, used perhaps the most horrific day in our collective history, deliberately and with intent, to foster a war of choice that has killed untold tens of thousands of human beings and basically bankrupted our country. They lied about the threat posed by Iraq. They destroyed the career of a CIA agent who was tasked to keep an eye on Iran's nuclear ambitions, and did so to exact petty political revenge against a critic. They tortured people, and spied on American civilians. You cannot fathom anger arising from this?
A fabulous rebuttal to Cohen's quite honestly absurd arguments from a few days ago. William Rivers Pitt | An Open Letter to Richard Cohen |
