Interesting Times: Test Marketing - War in Iran |

They [the source’s institution] have “instructions” (yes, that was the word used) from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day; it will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects. It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don’t think they’ll ever get majority support for this—they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is “plenty.”
Here's something to keep an eye open for. Interesting Times: Test Marketing - War in Iran |

"I would like to get together with you and show this to you and appeal to you as a brother and sister in Christ. You didn't give me that opportunity but I am happy to overlook that and deal with you on that level because I think that is the right thing to do and show you where you made a blatant, wrong statement. "Now there are consequences to this kind of thing, but I would like to work with you in a way that is best for everyone here concerned.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any more screwed up for the GOP, one of their Congressmen apparently thinks he needs to get Biblical on someone's ass. This should prompt an amusing counter statement from Mr. Lamborn. The Denver Post - Doug Lamborn's voice messages to Jonathan and Anna Bartha |

A Polk County judge on Thursday struck down Iowa's law banning gay marriage. The ruling by Judge Robert Hanson concluded that the state's prohibition on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional and he ordered the Polk County recorder to issue marriage licenses to six gay couples.
That's ain't them damn liberals in Massachewsetts doin' this. It's pig raisin' country! Update Having now read the opinion, the following line really stands out. "So far as this court can tell, (symbol thingy I don't have a key for)595.2(1) operates only to harm same-sex couples and their children."
(underline in the original p.55) That sounds pretty damning to me... Update 2 The order has been stayed pending appeal. Gay Marriage in Iowa? Yep! - DesMoinesRegister.com |

The person who provided the draft report to The Post said it was being conveyed from a government official who feared that its pessimistic conclusions would be watered down in the final version -- as some officials have said happened with security judgments in this month's National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq. Congress requested the GAO report, along with an assessment of the Iraqi security forces by an independent commission headed by retired Marine Gen. James L. Jones, to provide a basis for comparison with the administration's scorecard. The Jones report is also scheduled for delivery next week.
Gee, the White House is planning to spin another report? That's a shock. Report Finds Little Progress On Iraq Goals - washingtonpost.com |

Over five months, the Statesman examined rumors about Craig dating to his college days and his 1982 pre-emptive denial that he had sex with underage congressional pages.
