"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Theodore Roosevelt

But Schneider is correct, and Patrick Goldstein has not yet won a Pulitzer Prize. Therefore, Goldstein is not qualified to complain that Columbia financed "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" while passing on the opportunity to participate in "Million Dollar Baby," "Ray," "The Aviator," "Sideways" and "Finding Neverland." As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize, and so I am qualified. Speaking in my official capacity as a Pulitzer Prize winner, Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks.
Wow. I don't remember the last time Ebert blasted a movie like this. :: rogerebert.com :: Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo |

Local Christian Coalition Official Did Molest, Family Members Tell 'The Oregonian' |

After news broke that local law enforcement officials were investigating complaints that Louis Beres, longtime chairman of the Christian Coalition of Oregon, had molested three female family members when they were pre-teens, The Oregonian in Portland went out and interviewed Beres' family members. Two told reporters that Beres, indeed, had molested them. All three said they have been interviewed for several hours by detectives. "I was molested," said one of the women, now in her early 50s. "I was victimized, and I've suffered all my life for it. I'm still afraid to be in the same room with [Beres]."
Yep, God told me to molest my kids, and it was obviously in His plan, because that's how I became head of the Christian Coalition. Or, just to make sure I understand this correctly, Muslim fundamentalists blow themselves up, Christian fundamentalists molest little girls and Catholic fundamentalists molest little boys. And who is our next contestant? Local Christian Coalition Official Did Molest, Family Members Tell 'The Oregonian' |

So Judy is now going to share notes from the reporting she did on Wilson in June 2003. I suspect those notes already reflect information gleaned from the INR memo. And I suspect Judy will be forced to identify a tidy network of sources on Wilson, including Libby and Bolton, but maybe Hadley and others.
All I can say is, this is a brilliant analysis of what may be going on with the Fitzgerald probe. The Next Hurrah: Sweet Judy Blew Lies |

Finally, FINALLY, someone is standing up to the RIAA and taking them to task over their racketeering. The woman is countersuing the RIAA on pretty much every little illegal thing they've been doing (hiring a company that installs spyware, claiming debts are owed that do not exist, filing lawsuits that they have no intention of seeing through, making threats and falsely representing facts, etc). GO BABY GO! It's one thing to protect one's interested from criminal activity. It's entirely another to repeatedly break a whole raft of laws while doing so. They have already won commitments from FEMA for a total of $125 million in work, identifying sites for trailers and mobile homes for Hurricane Katrina evacuees and then installing the housing across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Now let me be sure I understand this. There are contracts out there to put in trailer homes, you remeber those, "God's gift to tornadoes and hurricanes" trailer homes, all across the area just smacked by Katrina and Rita? No. No. No again I say! If you're going to build something, build something that has a chance of survival, not a straw man. In Shift, FEMA Will Seek Bids for Gulf Work - New York Times |

Higbee struck the testimony of Merck researcher Dr. Briggs Morrison from the record because she said he was not an expert on the studies he had told the jury about Thursday, nor did Merck give the court sufficient notice about what he would discuss. "I felt sick last night, and I realized how I got sucked into this. I feel that the court was misled repeatedly with this testimony," Higbee told attorneys Friday morning.
