Galloway given 18m barrels of oil from Saddam, claims independent US report |

An independent investigation by the former US Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker has charged that the MP received an allocation of 18 million barrels of oil from the regime. It also claims that $120,000 (67,000) in revenues from oil sales was paid into the bank account of Mr Galloway's estranged wife. ... However, Mr Volcker has not produced any evidence that any money was paid directly into accounts held by Mr Galloway. The report also acknowledges that "both Mr Galloway and Mr Zureikat have denied that Mr Galloway was involved in obtaining the oil allocations or receiving any proceeds from the oil sales".
Interesting and confusing. They say he was paid off, but the money goes to a cancer fund in Iraq? And what was the pay off for? Galloway given 18m barrels of oil from Saddam, claims independent US report |

In her withdrawal letter to the president, Miers said she was "concerned that the confirmation process presents a burden for the White House and its staff and it is not in the best interest of the country."
Harriet, we hardly knew ya. Of course, that was the problem, NO ONE knew anything about you except W, and the meet and greets were actually making that problem worse. Back to the drawing board for this. CNN.com - Miers withdraws Supreme Court nomination - Oct 27, 2005 |

I remember when Bubba Clinton and Bush Sr. were doing their tsunami tour and good son Bubba slept on the floor so Poppy could have the bed. Ouch. That had to rankle Junior. Then Poppy invited Bubba up to Kennebunkport (site of Junior's DUI) to stay at his leisure. When I read that, my back went straight up. There is no way that a loadie like Junior didn't take that as an implicit criticism of everything he was and everything he'd done.
Wow. Reading Hamsher has been a riot. I have no idea if she's right or not, but the hamster working the treadmill in her brain looks like it's jet propelled. The Blog | Jane Hamsher: Oedipus Tyrannus Wrecked | The Huffington Post |

If you have never read this book, make a point to do so. It says a lot about the the technical changes, but says a great deal more about the social implications people derived from that technological superiority. And the lessons taught then do not seem to have been learned. Amazon.com: Books: The Social History of the Machine Gun |

Tamiflu Company Chaired by Rumsfeld |

CNN tells us that, "The U.S. government has started stockpiling Tamiflu and other medicines that scientists believe might be effective against a pandemic virus." Real experts tell us that viral mutation will render this medication worthless against this type of influenza. The company holding the patent, Gilead, wants more Tamiflu produced faster by Roche. Who was the Chairman of Board of Gilead until he resigned to join the Bush Administration? Who retains a large amount of pharmaceutical industry stock including Gilead's? Donald Rumsfeld.
This is pretty much the whole piece. Coincidence? Sure, but if so, why are they trying to get all the Tamiflu they can and not going after the competing drug Relenza? Tamiflu Company Chaired by Rumsfeld |

"State sponsors like Syria and Iran have a long history of collaboration with terrorists and they deserve no patience from the victims of terror," he said. "The United States makes no distinction between those who commit acts of terror and those who support and harbor them. Any government that chooses to be an ally of terror has chosen to be an enemy of civilization and the civilized world must hold those regimes to account."
So what he's saying is our pull out plan is to evacuate Iraq through Iran or Syria? Well this time he'd actually have something, maybe. Both Syria and Iran have been longtime sponsors of groups fighting the Israelis, so he'd have managed to get the first one of his reasons for invading Iraq right, but not by invading Iraq. If Bush's idea of global stability is to beat the crap out of the wasp's nest that is the middle east, maybe he should have a wasp's nest brought to the south lawn and try it in person to see how well that works.
