On Dec. 12, the Federal District Court in Los Angeles will hear a lawsuit filed by a consortium of Christian high schools against the University of California system for refusing to credit some of their courses when their students apply for admission.
And if I were a university, I wouldn't count a course that said Thomas Jefferson was the anti-christ as something worthwhile either. Here's the Problem With Emily Dickinson - New York Times |

Michael Scanlon, a former partner to lobbyist Jack Abramoff, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiring to bribe public officials, a charge growing out of the government investigation of attempts to defraud Indian tribes and corrupt a member of Congress. Scanlon, a former aide to Rep. Tom DeLay, entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle and agreed to pay restitution totaling more than $19 million to the tribes.

A few weeks ago, Sanders and other wildlife officials marked the 15th anniversary of Phoky's first capture near Anacapa. Phoky, though, didn't make it to the celebration. He had better places to be. Last Sanders heard, the otter was rumored to be in Mexico.

"I resent the fact that on Veterans Day, they criticized Democrats for criticizing them," Murtha said. "This is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion. The American public knows it, and lashing out at critics doesn't help a bit. You've got to change the policy. That's what's going to help the American people. You need to change direction."
Murtha is not a guy to say something lightly, and in defense circles, he's a very heavy hitter. I would say opposition to the war in Iraq just got ratcheted up a few notches. CNN.com - Senior Democrat calls for U.S. troops to leaveIraq - Nov 17, 2005 |
