Friends, Buzz & Click 3PO is here! - Nashville Events Anyone who doesn't have plans for this Saturday needs to come out and experience the joy and wonder that is Nashville's only annual electronic music showcase! We've given administrative duties to Buzz and Click over to Nashville's best radio station (91.1WRVU) and they've honored us with another great year of music running the gamut from melodic electronica to experimental noise and everything in between! There's a great lineup this year, including appearances from at least 2/3 of Venus Hum, Let's Say Baltimore, and Jensen Sportag. Huh? Oh, yeah - Logickal is definitely blowing it up as well. It's all happening Saturday - Guy Fawkes Day (November 5th in case ya didn't know) and it all starts at 8pm. It can all be had for a measly $5 (for 10 acts!) that goes to benefit WRVU (That means that you might also want to think about buying CDs from the artists...). You can follow the link below to read what the Scene had to say about it, and take a gander at the full lineup. Hope to see a bunch of ya there! -Jeremy The Scene Sez: http://nashvillescene.com/Stories/Arts/Our_Critics_Picks/2005/11/03/Our_Critics_Picks/index.shtml The Lineup (in order of appearance): 8pm Matt Hamilton 8.5 Birdfeeder 9 Let's Say Baltimore 9.5 Bluff Duo 10 Logickal 10.5 Satellite City 11 3kStatic 11.5 Athena Blue 12 Jensen Sportag 12.5 Tomorrow Ishikawa

“We did have Star Wars money — the money they had in the 1970's for the original Star Wars, that is,” he laughs. “Actually, it's true — this is a low-budget film relatively speaking, but we had the advantage of using fresh actors who did not command half our budget for salaries; a DP in Jack Green who works unbelievably fast and efficiently; a very clear understanding of what we were trying to do; and the advantage of a digital intermediate [at FotoKem, Burbank, Calif.], which helped us tremendously. That, in essence, helped us turn our small budget into a bigger one — or made it look like we did, anyway.”

the visitors find themselves face to face with a birdcage containing 150 pigeons and 45 children made from moose mixed with compacted bird grain. In what seems to be a recreation courtyard, girls and boys play with marbles or squabble while the pigeons are slowly devouring them.
A disturbing way to view nostalgia for one's childhood, don't you think? Aeiou : Kader Attia's Flying rats |

in fact, it can be argued that simply by having the focus of one genre (electronic OR rock OR experimental OR hip-hop), any number of publications automatically turn their "focus" into bias. because good music is not often made in a complete vacuum, artists may be influenced by sounds outside their genre (or subgenre in some cases). those same artists can be unjustly lauded or ignored for their efforts. either the narrowminded publication dislikes the"impure" influences shown by the mostly status-quo music, or the artist is raised to the level of genius simply by looking outside their own backyard.
An excellent rant... echoplex: high bias |

Kev decided to expand his idea to make the defnitive document on cut up music including many other parts, omitted by the constraints of the original radio session. After months of further research he tracked Morley down and they recorded passages from 'Words & Music' specially for this mix in an attempt tomarry the two and finish something that neither of them actually started. A year to the day of the original airing, the newly expanded version is ready."

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — August 21, 2005 — Bob died this afternoon at his home in Asheville, N.C. He was 71. Bob was diagnosed with brain cancer (glioblastoma multiforme or GBM) in late April 2005. He had received both radiation treatment and chemotherapy to help combat the disease. He is survived by his wife, Ileana, his five children, Laura Moog Lanier, Matthew Moog, Michelle Moog-Koussa, Renee Moog, and Miranda Richmond; and the mother of his children, Shirleigh Moog. Bob was warm and outgoing. He enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. He especially appreciated what Ileana referred to as "the magical connection" between music-makers and their instruments. A public Memorial Celebration is planned for The Orange Peel for noon, Wednesday, August 24th. Fans and friends can also direct their sympathies or remembrances to Caring Bridge Bob's family has established The Bob Moog Foundation dedicated to the Advancement of Electronic Music in his memory. Many of his longtime collaborators including musicians, engineers and educators have agreed to sit on its executive board including David Borden, Wendy Carlos, Joel Chadabpe, John Eaton, David Mash, and Rick Wakeman. The first installment of the Offnominal Podcast is now available. For this pilot episode, I’ve made a live mix of two previously recorded rehearsals, taking the best segments of each and molding them into a new composite piece entitled FlightDynamics Suite, separated into individual movements in the best prog-rock style. Following on from that are Cfmmmmmma, one of my many excursions into Time Machines-style drones and Ashen, a rough mix of a track culled from the 30 or so currently in process.
Just started podcasting as a remedy to my lack of gigs recently - consider them live shows by proxy. I think the format is going to be flexible, in as much as I could very well talk a bit about audio technology in one episode or play dj in another when I'm not feeling like airing out my own material. If anyone knows of any unsigned or otherwise cool experimental/electronic artists that might want some podcast play, make sure to pass them along to me! FlightDynamics |
