The thrill of the hunt for hidden treasures has attracted countless enthusiasts to follow coordinates posted on a Web site and use a Global Positioning System device to find hidden "caches" filled with trinkets around the world. But in this state - rich in tradition and that fiercely protects its heritage - the sport, pronounced "GEE-oh-cash-ing," is not thrilling some lawmakers. The South Carolina House approved a bill Thursday that seeks to crack down on unwanted intruders who, lawmakers say, have insulted many families with inappropriate photos of people and knickknacks on headstones and sometimes using the land as a toilet. "I don't find it funny when someone comes to my relative's gravesite and puts little trinkets on it," said Rep. John Scott, D-Columbia. "It's very offensive to us in the African-American community." The NMX04-1A is the first attempt by Neogentronyx to create a fully functional mech. At 18ft tall it is a biped (walks upright on two legs), and has two arms, it is humanoid in appearance. Walking as we do it will be able to walk much faster due mainly to the distance between its strides, it is not intended for use in the civilian world as such machines would pose a danger to those around them as well as the risk already taken on by the pilots themselves. Initially our mechs will be used for entertainment purposes and will eventually be fitted to fight in a large arena designed to accommodate these great machines. This is of course after prototype testing has proven that such a thing is feasible which we believe it will. www.neogentronyx.com |

What is one to do when a criminal proceeds, undeterred by a 90-pound German shepherd, a security alarm system and a property lit up like an outdoor stadium? And now he has our house keys and an inventory of the things he'd like to call his own. Would the police patrol my dead-end street as effectively the second time as they had the first? Would my small children be unharmed the next time? Would the criminal be satisfied with another automobile, another television, or would he feel the need to climb the staircase to the bedrooms, perhaps for a watch or a ring or a wallet, again risking little? Would my children wake to find a masked figure, clad in total black, in their bedroom doorway, a vision that might haunt them for years? Would the police come again and fill out yet another report and at what point should I feel comfortable that the "bad guy" got everything he wanted and wouldn't return a third time? I went to the safe where my licensed and registered gun was kept, loaded it for the very first time and tucked it under the mattress of my bed. I assured my frightened children "that Daddy would deal with the bad guy ... if he ever returned." Little did I imagine that this brazen thief was waiting in the back-yard bushes as I tucked my children into bed. These 9 drawings were done by an artist under the influence of LSD -- part of a test conducted by the US government during it's dalliance with psychotomimetic drugs in the late 1950's. The artist was given a dose of LSD 25 and free access to an activity box full of crayons and pencils. His subject is the medico that jabbed him. First drawing is done 20 minutes after the first dose (50ug) An attending doctor observes - Patient chooses to start drawing with charcoal. The subject of the experiment reports - 'Condition normal... no effect from the drug yet'. Acid trip 1 |

She's the first ever filmed, perhaps the only one of her kind to ever exist. Her name is Pinkie, and she was rescued when hunters killed her mother. She was only 6 weeks old when her hairless pink body was found. She was first sold as a pet and then later rescued and brought to the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary, located in the hills of Sierra Leone, Western Africa. It is here at the sanctuary that she must decide her fate. In order to be accepted into the group, she must first gain the approval of Bruno, the alpha male. If he accepts her, then she'll be welcomed into the troop. Animal Planet :: The Amazing White Chimp |

A naked, samurai sword-wielding martial arts expert screaming, "I'm God! I'm immortal" hacked his wife to death yesterday in a blood-soaked Bronx rampage, police said. When the madman lunged at police, one cop fired 14 shots - bringing down the suspect but also hitting her partner twice. The cop's vest stopped one bullet from hitting his chest, though another slug penetrated his knee. New York Daily News - Samurai slaying |
