BostonHerald.com - Business: Battery maker becomes investor: Gillette bets future brings fuel cell use
Topic: Miscellaneous 12:28 pm EDT, Sep 23, 2003

] An old battery stalwart is hoping to ride the wave of a
] new portable power technology with an investment in a
] young, upstart company.
] Gillette Co. is betting that fuel cells running on
] alcohol will give batteries and rechargers a run for
] their money. The Boston company has formed a strategic
] alliance with MTI MicroFuel Cells Inc. to develop fuel
] cells for consumers.

I wasn't aware that Gilette owns owns Duracell.

$87 Billion War Request Details Spending (washingtonpost.com)
Topic: Miscellaneous 11:12 am EDT, Sep 22, 2003

Oy. we sure are screwed.

Of particular interest is this analysis...

] Rep. David R. Obey (Wis.), the ranking Democrat on the
] Appropriations Committee, issued a report showing how
] much the administration would pay to meet Iraqis' needs
] compared with Americans'. The budget proposal allocates
] $157 per Iraqi for sewage improvements, compared with $14
] per American, for example. The administration is devoting
] $38 per Iraqi for hospitals, compared with $3.30 per
] American.
]
]
] Bush's "vision for Iraq is precisely opposite his vision
] for the United States," Obey said. "We also need to have
] a balance in the budgets between what we're doing abroad
] and what we're doing here at home."

Makes you think.

French suppress schadenfreude over U.S. Iraq woes
Topic: Miscellaneous 11:01 am EDT, Sep  5, 2003

] Chirac bet that even if the United States could win the
] war, it would need others to win the peace. Washington's
] call to the United Nations to help end the guerrilla
] violence plaguing Iraq suggests he was right.

I wonder if W. can spell hubris. Because he damn well better get rid of all of it. After the shenanigans we pulled at the beginning of the year, he's gonna have to get on his knees to convince our formerly friendly (now rightfully smug) allies to bail us out.

I'll say one thing, it takes some real sack to ask for help from the organization you publically called irrelevant only months ago... or maybe it just shows how bad you fucked up.

] I think Mr. Bush has got so accustomed to dropping bombs,
] dropping jobs, and dropping lies, that he forgets when he
] is actually holding poor Barney, that you cannot drop
] dogs.

AHAHAHAHAHA. This is one of the funniest photos ever. Look at everyone's facial expression. The coach looks like he's saying "Daaammnn..." and the pure "Oh fuckfuckfuckfuckFuck" on bush's face is priceless.

Topic: Miscellaneous 11:30 am EDT, Sep  2, 2003

] Late this year the company plans to begin auctioning the
] best seats to concerts through ticketmaster.com.
]
] With no official price ceiling on such tickets,
] Ticketmaster will be able to compete with brokers and
] scalpers for the highest price a market will bear.
]
] "The tickets are worth what they're worth," said John
] Pleasants, Ticketmaster's president and chief executive.
] "If somebody wants to charge $50 for a ticket, but it's
] actually worth $1,000 on eBay, the ticket's worth
] $1,000."

Ticketmaster are the true terrorists.
