Topic: Sports 1:56 pm EDT, Sep 21, 2005

LIMA, Peru (AP) -- A chartered jet carrying 289 Gambian soccer fans pretended it needed to make an emergency landing so they could watch their team compete in the FIFA Under 17 World Championships, officials said Wednesday.

The plane, claiming to be low on fuel, landed Tuesday near the stadium in Peru's northern coast city of Piura.

The plane was owned by Air Rum Ltd. Just thought I'd add that.

Topic: Sports 1:46 pm EDT, May 29, 2003

] SALT LAKE CITY, May 28 -As it does now and again,
] Utah is looking for a few good marksmen.
]
] A search for volunteers began early this month after a
] state judge signed death warrants for two convicted
] murderers who have requested death by firing squad. Utah
] is one of only three states, along with Idaho and
] Oklahoma, where execution by a team of riflemen is
] available as an alternative to lethal injection.

I couldn't help but put this in THAT category. So much news about the death penalty lately, it's driving me to a giggling insanity.

College Basketball - Men - Knight won't accept $250K salary from Texas Tech - Tuesday March 11, 2003 02:02 AM
Topic: Sports 9:05 am EST, Mar 11, 2003

] Bob Knight told Texas Tech he wouldn't accept his
] $250,000 coaching salary this year because his team
] failed to live up to his expectations -- and so did he.

Okay, now I could care less about sports. Actually, no. I couldn't possibly care less about sports. But the last line of this article says "Myers said it has not yet been determined what will be done with the money". I've got an idea!!! Why don't we use the $250K and send some poorer students to this college?! Would that be so difficult? Think of how many people want to go to this school and can't afford it. Blah. I'm one of those people who want to finish my education but can't afford it right now. Maybe he could give some of that money to me.
