] Resumes with white-sounding first names elicited 50 ] percent more responses than ones with black-sounding ] names, according to a study by professors at the ] University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and the ] Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I have a "white" first name and a "black" last name. I wonder which was more important to my prospective employers? I'd like to point out that I had a MUCH easier time looking for work in snowy-white southeastern Connecticut than I did in Central Jersey. I wonder if my name had anything to do with it? For anyone who truly believes that this guy ACTUALLY eats human fetuses. It really bugs me when urban legends make "real news" headlines. Just today I received an email from someone at work about how I should "IGNORE ALL MESSAGES FROM MONKEYMAN 935", should he try to contact me, "HE'S WANTED FOR THE MURDER OF 56 WOMEN HE MET ONLINE". I wish Snopes.com wasn't blocked from work. But about.com does a pretty fine job of also debunking urban legends. Do They Eat Human Fetuses in China? |
