Well it's not like I spent it all at the same time!! I've
built up my collection slowly over the last few years.
Telescope itself: $600.
Computer Control: $149
Bincoculars: $160 (got them on sale though, actually I
got two pairs, but I only use one for astronomy, so I'll
just count the one pair. $160. They're that good.)
Field Tripod: $200
Table tripod: $35
Camera: $300
Carrying case for telescope: $200
Eyepieces: $89, $59, $79
Right-angle viewfinder: $55(?)
Adapter to attach camera to telescope: $45 and $24 (one
piece for the telescope and one for the camera)
Filters: LPR (light pollution reduction)- $67; Moon filter (for when the moon is full.. it's hard to see detail, you need a neutral density filter) $20
I'd guess there's about another $100-$150 worth of miscellaneous stuff I have (books, charts, other accessories). So yes, around $2K.
It adds up quickly, but that's the price you pay for an interesting
hobby!

My current wish list includes another $300 worth of
stuff.
