The Indian Institute of Science TATA Bookstore: The Worlds BEST Technical Bookstore |

There are two bookstores on the campus, the Campus Bookstore (marked bookstore on your map) and the Tata Bookstore (marked TBS on the map). Both are located near the coffee board and offer 20% discount on books. You may also place an order for any book you need by filling up a form at these bookstores. There are several other bookstores in Bangalore. For technical books, you may visit Bangalore Book House ( Margosa Road, 17th Cross, Malleswaram), Sapna (Gandhinagar) and Gangarams (MG Road). For fiction and other non-technical books, good bookstores are the Bangalore Book House (Margosa Road, 17th Cross, Malleswaram), Strand (Manipal center) and Fountainhead (Lavelle Road).
This is the finest scientific bookstore on planet earth. It is not very large, but it compensates with density. The place is packed from floor to ceiling with books covering every topic you could imagine, from computer science to biochemistry to Richard Feynman's latest book on science in general. I walked in looking for two computer books. I walked out with 5 books, that would cost well over $200 in the US... for about $40. 9" of softback books (these books only come in hardback in the US), at about $4.50 per technical book inch. You can't beat that. This store carries the "Low Price Edition" of most any book you are looking for. If you are building a technical library, it might actually be cheaper to fly here and buy the books, then take them home. The TATA Bookstore is located on the campus of the IISC, the place where the President of India engineered the Indian Atomic Bomb, as well as their ballistic missles. There is a coffee shop next door, where you can read and mingle with India's best scientific minds. There is also an excellent library, and a campus bookstore that I haven't yet visited. This is the Garden City, and the campus is full of lush greenery. A truly wonderful place for a geek. With SkypeIn, you can get your own, regular phone number. So if your friends who aren’t using Skype want to call you by dialing a regular number, you can still receive the call in Skype. No matter where you are. So, if you have a Chicago-based SkypeIn number, but you’re living somewhere in the suburbs of Paris, your Chicago area friends - or anyone! - can just dial your SkypeIn number, and your Skype on the other side of the world starts ringing... and your friends are only paying whatever their phone company charges them for making a phone call to Chicago. Of course people from everywhere in the world can call your SkypeIn number; but if your SkypeIn number is in the United States and they call from another country, they pay for the international nature of the call. And if you have friends in many places, you can get up to 10 SkypeIn numbers in different places and keep them guessing as to where you really are!
I am in Bangalore, India. I have a 706 Georgia telephone number (its BETA, so they don't have 404 or 770 yet), with voicemail. If you call my US number, you get me anywhere in the world if I am logged into Skype. If I am not logged in or don't take the call, you get my voicemail. THIS IS THE FUCKING BOMB. Get numbers in 10 countries. "Yes sir, Bloggo Corporation has offices in Hong Kong, the US, France, the UK, their numbers are blah blah." hahaha They don't offer India numbers yet, but I'm sure they will. Skype In: DA BOMB |

The BIRT project addresses a wide range of reporting needs within a typical Java application. Today, reporting capabilities in an application are often implemented in an ad hoc fashion by the application developer, using technology that is not ideally suited to the task, or through the development of a one-off solution for that application. This is expensive and time-consuming, and provides limited reporting capabilities for the end users of the application. BIRT aims to address this problem by providing Eclipse-based open source and extensible tools and frameworks that allow developers to easily incorporate reporting functionality within their applications.

The flowchart is a means of visually presenting the flow of data through an information processing systems, the operations performed within the system and the sequence in which they are performed. In this lesson, we shall concern ourselves with the program flowchart, which describes what operations (and in what sequence) are required to solve a given problem. The program flowchart can be likened to the blueprint of a building. As we know a designer draws a blueprint before starting construction on a building. Similarly, a programmer prefers to draw a flowchart prior to writing a computer program. As in the case of the drawing of a blueprint, the flowchart is drawn according to defined rules and using standard flowchart symbols prescribed by the American National Standard Institute, Inc.

There is scope to make greater use of flowcharts and broadsheets in the law. As a teaching and learning technique, they find application in the law in statutes, cases and textbooks, and become more common as the law becomes more extensive and complex. They have two main advantages. In hard copy format flowcharts provide a basis upon which a lecturer can organise his or her materials; they can also be hyperlinked to both primary and secondary law materials in electronic format. And from a students perspective, flowcharts can act as a road map or guide to their learning, showing where they are going, where they have got to, and from whence they have come. This presentation demonstrates the application of flowcharts to a subject in Income Tax law, using both hard copy and online formats. If time permits we will also look at how the technique is being replicated in Intellectual Property law. Finally, we consider how in this age of digital technology judgments could be written and delivered in broadsheet format.

#Books are the tools of trade of lawyers. Primary law materials, whether they are statutes or judgments are recorded, published and read in book format. Secondary materials, such as, text and case books are likewise published in book form. Architects, engineers, builders and mariners primarily work from plans, diagrams and charts. In recent times the law has made use of diagrams and flowcharts to enhance access to and understanding of the law. For example, diagrams and flowcharts can be found in statutes such as, ... Flowcharts can also be found in textbooks, such as... # It is possible to go further in transforming the way the law is recorded and read from the material literary book format to the diagrammatic plan, chart or broadsheet format. The way in which the law has evolved conveniently lends itself to these alternative formats. Examples can be drawn from Contract law, Intellectual Property law and Taxation Law...
This is at the heart of what Jello is working on in India. He cites four examples, RTF diagrams, that are pretty damned cool, considering that its... just RTF. He uses different levels of abstraction to represent the process of law, as well as the flow of individual cases. This is a more intuitive representation for legal data than the "stack of text files" folder paradigm. Its really good to see that someone with so many degrees agrees.
