eXile - Issue #199 - Feature Story - Shvidler's List: The Black 100s 1 Reasons Russia is Fascist
Topic: Miscellaneous 7:20 pm EDT, Oct  8, 2004

] The frightening truth is that we here in Russia are
] actually living through "it" as "it" is happening. And
] you can kind of see why the Jews were so slow to react.
] The vise of fascism isn't applied abruptly the way it is
] in real-time when we watch movies and documentaries.
] Rather, the laws and violence are applied slowly,
] quietly, with just a little increase in the pressure
] every few months. Each time the screws are tightened, a
] few people squeal. But within a few weeks, when most
] people realize that nothing day-to-day really changed
] much, the clamor dies down and the new,
] slightly-more-fascistic-norm-than-before suddenly feels,
] well, normal. You stop noticing it until the next
] incremental increase, when you hear the same squeals, get
] used to it, go on with your life, and so on. It's like
] deep sea diving -- if you were to drop too deep too
] quickly, you'd die from the pain. But slowly submerging,
] you get used to the pressure to the point that it feels
] no different from the pressure on the surface.

Two women found with HIV-immune mutant gene
Topic: Science 12:47 am EDT, Oct  7, 2004

] Zhu explained that the immune systems of some individuals
] may be capable of resisting HIV infection. These
] individuals who do not appear to be infected with HIV
] despite multiple sexual encounters with HIV infected
] partners are referred to as exposed seronegatives (ES).
]
] To be specific, any one who has conducted sexual
] activities at least twice weekly in four consecutive
] months with an HIV-infected partner might be identified
] as ES.
]
] Of 11 ES cases, two cases have later been identified as
] carrying the mutant genes.
]
] In Zhu's opinion, if medicine functioning similarly with
] the genes was put in the vagina and rectum, the HIV virus
] couldn't find its carrier to enter the human body and
] thus would be expelled.
]
] In Shenzhen, both confirmed samples are women who have
] been exposed to HIV for many years but remained
] uninfected.

Anyone ever made/know anyone who made the move to Bangalore, India?
Topic: Technology 12:15 pm EDT, Oct  1, 2004

So, I have a software engineer friend from Bangalore. He is visiting there now. He wants to start a company there. I am tempted. I think it would be as interesting as Moscow, but much, much easier. Friendly people, many IT jobs available for Americans ($15-20K for Linux/Perl geeks), with western standard living for about $5K a year. I get antsy when I stay in one place for too long, and I've been in the states over a year.

I kinda feel like Bangalore would have that hustle/bustle that makes for a good city. Plus the nightlife is pretty western... lots of clubs, pubs, etc.

My problem is that I don't know anyone that has made the move, and I've only found one page on someone that did. They liked it alot... but I'd like more opinions.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Farris Bueller?

] It's a sort of show-and-tell folding map intended for
] both soldiers and private contractors working in Iraq --
] with lots of little pictures you can point to in front of
] an Iraqi person to say things like "is the improvised
] explosive device hidden under the dead goat?" and "was
] the bomb maker planning manual or remote detonation?"

Duma Regroups With Eye on Terror
Topic: Current Events 9:09 am EDT, Sep 21, 2004

] State Duma deputies on Monday began to sort through more
] than 30 anti-terrorism bills submitted by government
] agencies and individuals after President Vladimir Putin
] demanded that new laws be passed to arm the government in
] its fight against terror.
]
]
] The bills, which are at the top of the Duma's fall
] agenda, have not been made public but, judging from
] details leaked to the Russian press, they promise to
] increase the Federal Security Service's powers, limit
] media coverage of terror attacks and create new headaches
] for migrants.

Legalizing Fascism. KGB takeover, media control, caucasian scapegoats.
