These people aren’t “literally” fools - they didn’t get to become high-net worth individuals by making silly decisions. Rather, they are fools in the figurative sense (”anyone investing money in Jimmy’s new venture is surely a fool.”) How do you find these individuals? For most young entrepreneurs, it isn’t easy, as they have not yet amassed a large professional network against which to tap. In any event, the only way to really get to these individuals is through good old fashioned networking. Get out to every local professional event you can find. Throw out your pitch to anyone who will listen, and start following up. Soon, you’ll have built a pretty sizable list of contacts that you can leverage to try and raise the cash you need.

Atlanta Entrepreneurs and Investors Embrace Capital Connection David & I attended StartupLounge.com's Capital Connection in Atlanta on Wednesday night and it was a great event. The goal was to put entrepreneurs and investors together. It was the first time Michael Blake and Scott Burkett tried this, but the event was incredibly impressive. From an attendance standpoint, the event was way above expectations and they had to switch venues twice to accommodate everyone. Almost 200 people attended and the event was open solely to Georgia-based entrepreneurs and investors (from all over).

The goal of StartupLounge.com is to provide a resource for entrepreneurs to get the rubber-meets-the-road kind of help that they need to be successful, at no cost, and no strings attached. We aren’t here to sell you anything. We simply want to help entrepreneurs grow, and turn good deals into great ones. Through our podcast, we aim to offer valuable content for entrepreneurs everywhere (although we will focus certain content on the southeast region of the United States, with a special emphasis on the Atlanta/Georgia market.) Our show format is a bit different than most other podcasts in that our shows tend to run between 30-60 minutes in length. Instead of trying to “force fit” show content into a 10 or 15 minute block of time, we instead strive for riveting guests, lively topics, and a dash of silliness to boot.
