If there really had been a Mercutio, and if there really were a Paradise, Mercutio might be hanging out with teenage Vietnam draftee casualties now, talking about what it felt like to die for other people's vanity and foolishness.

At least he had the courtesy of telling her he was good in bed so she knew what she was missing out on!

I knew a Greek guy in college, and he was exactly like this! Totally God's gift to women, and thought all American women were stuck up because they didn't follow him around by the hundreds.

Federal Bureau of Investigation - Operation Malicious Mortgage
Topic: Society 9:01 am EDT, Jun 20, 2008

From March 1 to June 18, 2008, Operation Malicious Mortgage resulted in 144 mortgage fraud cases in which 406 defendants were charged.

They're about 4 years late on starting this one. And luv the name! What's next? Operation Gang Bang going after porn people? How about Operation Executive Decision going after the White House for violating their oaths of office?

LOL! I thought the same thing when I saw this story...too little, too late. Way to get off your asses and finally do something, fellas!

With High Gasoline Prices, Offshore Drilling Is Gaining Favor - NYTimes.com
Topic: Miscellaneous 1:01 pm EDT, Jun 19, 2008

A 2007 Department of Energy study found that access to coastal energy deposits would not add to domestic crude oil and natural gas production before 2030 and that the impact on prices would be “insignificant.”

And ANWR would also have as little effect in as long a time to develop.

Let's also not forget that the global price for oil is the global price for oil no matter where it comes from.

So let's review: You can't drive your way out of congestion, and you can't drill your way out of an energy crisis.

In Life, as in Baseball, Getting Fired Is an Opening for a Comeback - NYTimes.com

There were those who said the Mets had plenty of reasons to part company with Mr. Randolph — 35 reasons this season (the number of games the Mets had lost). The team was tied with the Atlanta Braves for third place in the National League East, 6 ½ games out of first. The Mets were just under .500 for the season, having won 34 games.

So, does this mean the Braves should be hunting for a new manager?

Crews Remove UC-Berkeley Tree-Sitters Ropes - News Story - KTVU San Francisco
Topic: Miscellaneous 2:50 pm EDT, Jun 17, 2008

University spokesman Dan Mogulof said the actions were being taken to remove hazards from the grove and that there would be no attempt on Tuesday to forcibly remove the protesters.

"We are not removing tree sitters today," Mogulof said. "At this point we have no plan to forcibly remove people from the trees. What we are doing is putting the pieces in place to make it difficult if not impossible for them to sustain this illegal and dangerous occupation of University property.''

Holy crap! There are still hippies! Albeit, feces-throwing hippies, but the point remains. Yay, local environmental causes!

Nearly 1 in 10 Homeowners Face Loan Problems - NYTimes.com
Topic: Miscellaneous 4:54 pm EDT, Jun  5, 2008

Four states — Arizona, California, Florida and Nevada — accounted for about 89 percent of the foreclosures, a disproportionately high amount of the newly reported figures. Those regions have suffered the sharpest price drops.

That makes more sense. Before, the article says that 1 in 10 homeowners is foreclosing or delinquent on their payments, and I couldn't believe that about Georgia.

From Contract documents at my job:

Where Contractor is prevented from completing any part of the Work within the Contract Times due to delay beyond the control of Contractor, the Contract Times will may be extended in an amount equal to the time lost due to such delay if a Claim is made therefor as provided in Paragraph 12.02.A. Delays beyond the control of Contractor shall include, but not be limited to, acts or neglect by Owner, acts or neglect of utility owners or other contractors performing other work as contemplated by Article 7, fires, floods, epidemics, abnormal weather conditions, quarantine restrictions, strikes, freight embargoes, acts of war (declared or not declared), or acts of God.

BTW, I pity every fucking lawyer out there having to write this shit. It's bad enough reviewing it!
