Once Samsung Galaxy Is In US, Will iPhone 5 Still Be Waited For?
Topic: Technology 8:16 am EDT, Jul 10, 2011

While Apple’s iPhone 5 is being delayed, Motorola Atrix and HTC Sensation are making the most of the void market. Why has Samsung Galaxy S II, the biggest contender of iPhone 5 not arrived in the US yet? Samsung Galaxy S II has hit sales of 3 million already within 55 days in the UK and it is expected to launch in four versions in the US. Samsung Galaxy S II embodies most of the hardware features rumored to come with iPhone5. Apple had acknowledged the might of Samsung Galaxy when Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung charging the company of copying iPad, iPhone and iPod designs in its devices. “The Galaxy S2 has not only set a new bar for smartphones in 2011, it smashed that bar, recreated it in its own image, and put it out of reach of the competition,” editors at the UK’s Techradar said.
Samsung Galaxy S II is super-thin measuring merely 0.33-inch in thickness and weighs about 4 ounces. These specifications beat iPhone 4′s vital statistics as the Apple smartphone weighs 4.8 ounces and is 0.38-inch thick. Galaxy S 2 features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with 800×480 screen resolution. It is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 Mali-400MP GPU Orion chipset. The phone comes in 16/32GB internal memory configuration with 1GB RAM. Galaxy S 2 sports an 8MP rear-facing camera with 1080p video capture capability and also has an additional 2 MP front-facing camera for video chat. Other features include 3.5 mm jack, loudspeaker, stereo FM radio with RDS, SMS threaded view, MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM, HTML browser, games, Java via third party application, digital compass, A-GPS support , SNS integration , Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, voice-memo-dial-commands and predictive text input. The device has lately been confirmed of having Android’s 2.3.4 OS which includes Google Talk with video support. The iPhone 5 is rumored to come with a 3.7-inch curved glass display. However, the device might not feature an AMOLED screen keeping the patent scuffle in mind between Apple and Samsung. Samsung is the largest supplier of AMOLED panels meeting a major portion of the global AMOLED demand. Unless other major suppliers come forward Apple will possibly offer a higher-resolution retina display screen rather than go for AMOLED panels. Samsung Galaxy S II will offer more speed in the micro-chip department with its dual-core 1.2GHz chipset as Apple will be powered by dual-core A5 processor which powers the iPad.iPhone 5 will feature voice-recognition capability which is already provided by Samsung Galaxy S 2, as it allows users to control the phone with a few selected words. With the NFC-enabled in Samsung Galaxy S II, it can be used for contact less mobile payments. However, Apple is expected to forgo NFC-capability in the upcoming iPhone 5 as the UK carriers revealed that Apple will abstain from NFC as it believes that there is no industry standard related to the technology. Galaxy S II has also been endowed with enterprise features which will appeal to business users. The phone features Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, on device encryption, virtual private network through Cisco’s AnyConnect and Cisco’s WebEx.
Once Galaxy S II enters the US market, is it worth waiting for the
