Samsung Demands To See iPhone 5 And iPad 3

Well THIS is a wild turn, a wild turn indeed! Samsung and Apple have been at battle for just about forever, this war leading up to the latest street fight in the courtroom. Apple declared their intent to sue Samsung over copyrights that it said were besmirched by Samsung, while Samsung in turn decided it would sue back. Next step was Samsung revealing their battle plan, and UH oh, Apple won early access to Samsung’s phones/tablets! That’s not the half of it. Now we find that Samsung is demanding to get early access to both the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3. What we’re seeing here is a motion filed Friday night by Samsung’s lawyers that requests Apple deliver their plans for the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 “final, commercial version(s)”, including both the units and the final versions of the packaging as well as the inserts that will be a part of them. Samsung’s reasoning is that these devices will be on the market at the same time as the DROID Charge and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and they’d like to prepare potential legal action in case the devices show enough similarity to their counterparts. What does this mean? I wont go into too massive a torrent of analysis here, but basically it means there isn’t going to be an inch of advancement allowed on either side of the line drawn in the sand. Samsung notes that they want the “final, commercial versions” of the devices by June 13, 2011 OR, if these devices aren’t available at that time, they’ll accept “the most current version of each to be produced instead.” Samsung doesn’t appear to KNOW that Apple is producing new versions of the iPad or the iPhone, but everyone in the world “knows,” if you know what I mean. They’re acting off of “internet reports” and “Apple’s past practice.” One of the most important points here for us, the adoring fans and consumers, is that Samsung has promised that they’d work with the same rules that Apple put forth when they filed for access to Samsung’s products: that only the lawyers would get to see anything Apple produces – noone at Samsung and noone in the streets. Have a look at a couple of the sheets from this legal report below – and let us know what you think will happen. Who will emerge victorious – and do you think Samsung will win this particular battle?
