Ubuntu Satanic Edition "Undead" CD Released
Topic: High Tech Developments 1:55 pm EDT, Jul  2, 2010

Ubuntu Satanic Edition continues to smash the boundaries of free software…

The Undead CD.

Not only does this unholy relic contain the world’s best operating system (based on the latest Ubuntu 10.04), but is also shot through with metal. Including over 50 minutes of the best free heavy music from the bands StabWounD, Mesentery, Cynicism, Conchadors, Antarhes, Severed Fifth, Else, Sirio, Venesection and Blueprint For Disaster.

Boot from the CD to give it a try, with the option of installing onto your computer. Follow the link below to join Lucifer’s Legion and the battle for freedom in music and software today…

I admit, I'm not as "in touch" with alternative Linux distributions as much as I used to be, but how the hell did I miss this one? Yesterday, the Satanic Edition of Ubuntu finally got it's "Undead" CD (as opposed to a Live CD.)

Year 2010, Where Broadband is a "Right" in Finland
Topic: High Tech Developments 2:55 pm EDT, Jul  1, 2010

Finland is now the first country in the world where every citizen is entitled to high-speed Internet connection, starting today. A similar plan for the United States faces hurdles and will likely take years to come to fruition. As of July 1, "every Finn will have the right to access to a 1 megabit per second broadband connection," with a goal of a 100 mbps connection by 2015.

We have reached ... the distant future, where broadband internet access is as much of a right as water, in Finland.

Details on Apple's New iPhone
Topic: High Tech Developments 4:51 pm EST, Dec  4, 2006

"Kevin Rose, founder of content aggregator Digg, knows about the iPhone, he's leaked a lot in a podcast which is up on YouTube, and he's nervous about Apple retribution. Rose says there will be two flash RAM iPhone models, 4GB (US$249) and 8GB (US$449), they'll have two batteries, they'll be very small, they'll have a slide out keyboard and they'll be compatible with all the main cellular technologies."

These could quite possibly be the world's nicest cellphones if they are anything like Apple's other products. Eight gigabytes of flash RAM on a phone with a slideable keyboard seems quite handy/practical to me.
