Celebrity TV chef sued by investors
Topic: Current Events 7:11 pm EST, Feb 11, 2004

NEW YORK (AP) -- Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito is in a legal food fight with the people who say they financed his television restaurant and who are accusing him of mismanaging the eatery, which they say has lost more than a half million dollars.

A group called China Grill Management says in court papers that it put up more than $3 million so DiSpirito could open Rocco's on 22nd Street, an Italian restaurant that was the site of NBC's reality series "The Restaurant."
...
Instead, the investors say, "The quality of the food and service has been widely criticized" at Rocco's on 22nd Street and the restaurant "has yet to make a profit" -- losing "in excess of $600,000."

Make a profit? This quickly? Investors need a reality adjustment.
1. There are no sure bets.
2. Very few small businesses are profitable in less than a year
3. When you buy into someone's dream, you are wagering. Not all dreams come true.
Show some f*cking patience in your investment. The day trader investing lessons of the late 90s should still be fresh. Sheesh!

Swimmer drives with shark on leg
Topic: Current Events 6:24 am EST, Feb 11, 2004

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Lifeguards at a beach post north of Sydney couldn't believe their eyes when a man walked in with a small shark attached to his leg.

Luke Tresoglavic swam 300 meters (1,000 feet) to shore, walked to his car and drove to the local surf club with the 60 centimeter (23 inches) shark biting his leg and refusing to let go.

"I just realized I had to swim in like that, hanging on to it," Tresoglavic told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio on Wednesday.

Tresoglavic, 22, was snorkeling on a reef off Caves Beach near Newcastle on Tuesday when a wobbegong, or carpet shark, attacked his leg.

Wow... This was one of the original cyber squatter (no pun intended) pr0n sites. I am amazed it lasted this long. [TAPS quietly playing]

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Whitehouse.com Web site, one of the best examples that the Internet isn't always what it seems, is getting out of the pornography business.
Its owner says he's worried what his preschool-age son might think.
...
Parisi's decision to sell the Whitehouse.com name and more than 100 derivations comes amid signs pointing to a rebound in the market for reselling Web addresses. A Florida man sold men.com in December for $1.3 million.

New Anger-Powered Cars May Revolutionize The Way We Drive
Topic: Society 7:30 pm EST, Feb  9, 2004

DETROIT—With gas prices approaching $2 per gallon in some areas and gridlock on the rise, Detroit's three major automakers are stepping up development of their newest brainchild: the anger-powered car.
...
GM is currently developing two anger-powered cars, the entry-level Chevrolet Tantrum coupe and the larger, pricier Buick Umbrage. Ford has announced a multi-tiered move toward anger power, with plans to introduce anger/gasoline hybrid engines in the popular Lincoln Frown Car in 2006, to offer a de Sade option for its classic Mercury Gran Marquis in 2007, and to unveil a line of Acrimony family-sized cars and wagons in 2008. Daimler-Chrysler will resurrect the defunct Plymouth brand name with the reintroduction of the Plymouth Fury.

It's about time panties came with status codes!

Yes, just in time for Valentine's Day, we bring you HTTPanties for the discriminating woman who would prefer a web-savvy and somewhat-direct approach in the romance department.

Feeling frisky? Well then don the black "200 OK" panties and see where they take you. Alternatively, the white "403 Forbidden" style sends a very different and hopefully clear message.

CNET : SCO claim reaches $5 billion
Topic: Technology 9:31 pm EST, Feb  6, 2004

Maybe SCO should hire Dr. Evil. Then they could sue for

ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS!

What a club of morons.. I give them 1 yr before they are bankrupt with these tactics. The lawyers will own all the shares because that's all they can pay with.

Linux antagonist SCO Group is seeking to add $2 billion to its legal claim against computing giant IBM while changing the scope of the suit.

In an amended complaint submitted shortly before a hearing Friday in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City, SCO lists two new causes of action against IBM, both of which include claims for damages of at least $1 billion. The changes bring the total amount sought to about $5 billion. Damages previously had been set at $3 billion.

LOS ANGELES — The controversy surrounding Janet Jackson's Super Bowl performance has caused the singer's boyfriend to call it quits — from the Recording Academy.

On Friday Jermaine Dupri held a press conference to announce he is resigning from his position as president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences' Atlanta chapter

I can understand and sympathize with his reasons and maybe it's the 30 something caucasian living inside my head. All I can think to say in response is... Who?
