Osama bin Ladens chauffeur was arraigned today in the first US military commissions since the Second World War as the mans lawyer challenged the very basis of the hearings. Salim Ahmed Hamdan, a 34-year-old Yemeni, entered the pre-trial hearing without shackles or handcuffs, in a white flowing robe as he put on headphones to hear an Arabic interpreter.
