meteorologist who for nine years has been forecasting the weather on KPVI-TV (search) in Pocatello, says the Yakuza — the Japanese mafia — is using a Russian-made electromagnetic generator to launch terrific storms against the U.S. mainland

I'm aware of HAARP, and the Russian version, and the possible effects of bombarding the ionosphere with massssssive amounts of negative ions (which btw - negative ions are great at keeping you awake and alert - used on most battleships and submarines) - but Japanese Mafia using Russian weather weapon as retaliation for us nuking them 50 years ago?

FOXNews.com - Views - Guest Columnist - German Election May Revive U.S. Relations
Topic: Miscellaneous 2:05 pm EDT, Sep 15, 2005

Because a victory by Angela Merkel (search), the candidate of the conservative Christian Democratic Party (search), will signal the revival of stronger ties between Washington and Berlin. Merkel, an unassuming physicist from former communist East Germany, commands a slim six point lead over Social Democrat Schroeder, according to the Sept. 12 issue of Der Spiegel (search), a respected German weekly.

A physicist? Nice.

It'd be very nice for Germany and the US to improve relations again.

Free Web-Based Exception Reporting

Tsar writes "Promethean Personal Software (makers of Sherpa, a code generating tool for db apps) have quietly released ExceptionCollection, a free (as in beer) online service for developers using any SOAP-enabled environment. You sign up on the site, download their component, add three or four lines of code to your app, and any exceptions thrown by your users get logged at ExceptionCollection.com for your later perusal (the last 100 anyway). There are several options, like whether reporting requires user approval. Is this as cool as it looks, or a solution in search of a problem?"

This is a great tool - but doesn't sound like it'd be hard to implement yourself if you already are working in SOAP anyways

WASHINGTON — Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (search), in his first visit to the White House, thanked President Bush for U.S. support and said "we will never forget what you have done for our people."

I'd like to hear some of your liberal comments about this.

I for one think this is great that the Iraqi's themselves are saying this - while our Democrats at home are still just whining.

Oh wait nevermind - I'm sure this guy was pressured to say this by the evil Republican Administration.

stinerman writes "Three students at UC-Berkley used a 10 minute recording of a keyboard to recover 96% of the characters typed during the session. The article details that their methods did not require a 'training text' in order to calibrate the conversion algorithm as has been used previously. The research paper [PDF] notes that '90% of 5-character random passwords using only letters can be generated in fewer than 20 attempts by an adversary; 80% of 10-character passwords can be generated in fewer than 75 attempts

Cool.

Like it matter this late in the game.

Raptor releases JDAM during first 'follow-on' evaluation mission
Topic: Miscellaneous 3:23 pm EDT, Sep  8, 2005

Members of the 422nd Test and Evaluation Squadron here flew the first F/A-22 Raptor Follow-on Operational Test and Evaluation mission Aug. 29, releasing Joint Direct Attack Munitions on the Utah Test and Training Range.

After almost 20 years in development - my favorite killing machine is almost ready.

Next test is to fire a AIM-120 (medium range air to air missile).

This plane should be ready to kill people as early as next year - I CAN'T WAIT!!!
