Welcome to id Software's Finger Service V1.5! Name: Todd Hollenshead Email: Description: CEO Project: Last Updated: 07/14/2004 12:36:49 (Central Standard Time) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7-14-2004 11:52 AM CDT IT'S DONE!!!!!!! Yes, this is the official word that DOOM 3 has been code released and has been approved for manufacturing! It won't be long now until the anticipation ends and the PH34R begins ;-) We literally just hung up with Activision and have confirmed that our latest release candidate has been mutually approved and is finally GOLD. Thanks to everyone for their patience (yeah right! =) and for everyone at id, Activision and our numerous partners for helping us create what I believe is absolutely the best game we have ever made. So, the next question is release dates. Retailers in the States will be allowed to pick up games starting at 12:01 AM on August 3rd. The official street date is actually August 5th in the U.S.A., but some of your favorite stores will probably have it early for those of you who have to have it first. Check with your local retailer for that information. Doom 3: GOLD! |

With bluetooth and UWB, there's no reason ] the transciever needs to be near the speaker/mic. -k] Anyone remember the old Ray Bradbury shorts that were a television show? There was one where everybody has lapel phones. I can't remember the title of that short, but it was really neat for its time. The premise is a guy is introduced into a society where everybody is walking around with these phones and constantly talking into them, ignoring actual people as they walk by, having conversations with the air. Not accustomed to it, the guy goes mad, and the way it was filmed conveys that frustration very well. I always used that as an analogy for the current cell phone craze. Now that they lapel phones are coming, I see Bradbury as prophetic. Here's to hoping Fahrenheit 451 doesn't come true though. [EDIT] This is the episode: http://www.scifilm.org/tv/raybradbury/raybradbury5-2.html In the TV adaptation, they used lapel phones rather than radio wrist-watches. ... Bradbury scored yet another prognostication bull's-eye in his 1953 short story "The Murderer," wherein a man is imprisoned for wrecking "machines that yak-yak-yak." The most offensive devices were the "radio wristwatch" communicators. Said the electronics murderer: "... my friends and wife phoned every five minutes. What is there about such 'conveniences' that makes them so temptingly convenient? ... Convenient for my office, so when I'm in the field with my radio car there's no moment when I'm not in touch. In touch! There's a slimy phrase. Touch, hell. Gripped! Pawed, rather." As retribution, the murderer jams radio wristwatch signals on a commuter bus and delights in the "terrible, unexpected silence" he creates: "The bus inhabitants faced with having to converse with each other." Let me just say from the outset that the Federal Reserve has confirmed our Stock Market Crash forecast by raising the Money Supply (M-3) by crisis proportions, up another 46.8 billion this past week. What awful calamity do they see? Something is up. This is unprecedented, unheard-of pre-catastrophe M-3 expansion. M-3 is up an amount that we've never seen before without a crisis - $155 billion over the past 4 weeks, a $2.0 trillion annualized pace, a 22.2 percent annualized rate of growth!!! There must be a crisis of historic proportions coming, and the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States is making sure that there is enough liquidity in place to protect our nation's fragile financial system. The amazing thing is, the Fed's actions mean they know what is about to happen. They are aware of a terrible, horrific imminent event. What could it be? ... I picked this story up off one of the conspiracy sites I frequent. I don't really know enough about Federal Reserve monetary policy to know if this is as big a deal as they make it out to be. Maybe some more financial minded folks can throw the proverbial grain of salt in the circle. Safe Haven Financial Markets Forecast and Analysis |

I can't help but feel like he HAD to ] be a spy. Oh this is just conspiracy theorist garbage. Them dirty ayrabs should all be nuked. They beheaded an American! That's much worse than torture, unless one of the detainees dies from the torture, in which case, sorry, our bad. And don't you dare entertain thoughts that Berg was anything but an innocent American civilian. After all, John Ashcroft says so: --- http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/nation/8672097.htm?1c "The suggestion that Mr. Berg was in some way involved in terrorist activity or may have been linked, in some way involved, in terrorist activity is a suggestion that we do not have any ability to support and we do not believe is a valid one," Ashcroft told reporters Friday. --- And the emails that the family received from a US consular officer in Baghdad, stating that Berg was being detained in Mosul by the US military immediately before disappearing, they are obviously forged. Take this one for example, released to the AP by Berg's family: --- http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/news/51404-iraq-emails.html To back its claims that Berg was in U.S. custody, the family on Thursday gave The Associated Press copies of e-mails from Beth A. Payne, the U.S. consular officer in Iraq. "I have confirmed that your son, Nick, is being detained by the U.S. military in Mosul. He is safe. He was picked up approximately one week ago. We will try to obtain additional information regarding his detention and a contact person you can communicate with directly," Payne wrote to Berg's father, Michael, on April 1. --- You are a fool and possibly a terrorist sympathizer to question the official story. Get it straight. We are at war with terror and evil. This video proves we are fighting the good fight for freedom and democracy in Iraq. No conspiracy here, move right along.
